In the last 2 weeks I have received at least 25 letters, from as many institutions, rejecting my application. Problem is I have not filed any applications, gotten them from every major credit cards, insurance companies, retail stores... They applied for loans, credit cards, lines of credit, money market accounts CD's..... All the applications, that I know of have been rejected because they don't know my SS#, I've put a freeze on all my accounts with all the credit rating companies, 5 of them. They are using my home address and trying to use my name, they just changed 1 letter in my name so technically not my name. Can anyone tell me what is their endgame?

You might see if USPS will hold your mail at the Post Office for a bit. Have someone keep an eye on your mailbox just in case.

I had to look that up.....seems there is a 4th, not part of the Big 3, Innovis.

Doing some more looking into it now.

We were away for a few days so we set up a usps account. Go to their site, create and account, and check to see if mail hold is available. Almost all places are. Set up the dates for the hold and press OK. You can have all your mail delivered at the end of the dates or you can pick it up. Pretty easy and worth while for when you know you won't be at home.

Been in this boat before... aside from placing freezes on the big 3 creditors:

Equifax
Trans Union
Experian

Also place freezes with:

ChexSystems
National Consumer Telecom & Utilities Exchange (NCTUE)

I found out about these last two right here on Sig Forum so I'm just passing this forward.
Credit Karma is a free app that will alert you to any new credit checks done in your name, after which you can go dispute them to roll-back the credit score points you'll get hit by. As to the end game, hard to say, your stolen identity info has likely been sold to several no-gooders and each of them has his/her own agenda. Some will try to open new accounts, others will try to gain access to your existing accounts; make sure you check your current and previous 401K accounts, even if they're inactive and you have no funds in them, no-gooders will try to access them so they can launder money through the old 401k account (That's how it was explained to me by the account security person from a major 401k company when this happened to me).

There's a 4th credit reporting agency now - because having your info stolen from 3 wasn't enough.

Innovis.

It takes 5 minutes to freeze your credit - do it.

Everything is froze with fraud alerts. I just don’t know why they would give my home address. They would have to know I would get mail about it. Is there something I’m missing?

ID theft victim here. I'll tell you what worked for me. I went scorched earth and trashed my credit rating. No one wanted to steal my identity after that.

I had a bad episode about 6 weeks ago. No one opened any account in my name, but a guy called 2 banks and my cell phone provider saying he was me.

They ended up getting a little off a debit card, money gram transfer. The bank reimbursed that.

I was already ‘frozen’ on the big 3, added chexsystems. I may add more. I had alerts set up on most everything, text or email. Those alerts is where I started to get notice.

I had to change everything, bank account numbers, email in use, usernames, passwords and more. One of my new cards is only ATM, not even a debit card.

I think this stuff is rampant now, makes one want to go ‘full beekeeper’ on them. It took me days and more to clean this up, including several visit to banks.

I’ve had a credit freeze and fraud alerts for years. All my bills are sent via email and I pay online.
My junk mail credit offers are now close to zero.
Fingers crossed as scammers can get clever but I don’t do anything important by mail anymore.

I already have 2 companies monitoring my credit, got them both free, and neither picked up on this fraud. Probably because the misspelling of my name. That's the way I am viewing it if anything gets through, sorry not my name.

I've had this on my "ToDo List" for eons but just got around it it until today. Kudo's to the OP for this thread! And yes, less than 5 minutes to freeze things on the "big three."

Still a bit perplexed about these other credit agencies being cited in this thread beyond the big three. Haven't moved to freeze on any of these lesser known outfits.
