I've been taking Metoprolol 50mg tablets twice a day since 2009. I have Cardiomyopathy so I need to keep my heart rate low or risk passing out. Other than cold extremities, I haven't had any side effects. I also take Lisinopril to keep fluid from building up in my legs. 20mg once a day with the only side effect of having to piss quite often.

I've been taking both Hydrochlorothiazide and Metoprolol in combination for about 5 years for HPB. Lisinopril was recently added to the cocktail when my BP started to rise again, and it's back under control. I've had no side effects at all from any of them.

200mg metoprolol xl twice a day. I stand up slowly and avoid bending over too far or I get a little dizzy. That may get reduced after my ablation. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

Be sure to monitor your BP as you start the meds. Don't let it run too low. May take a little while to adjust dosages. Word of caution on HCTZ. Have had a couple of patients this year who experienced major dizziness and severe vertigo. Turned out hctz was the cause. Doesn't happen much but just something to be aware of that could happen. I take MT and Lisiniprill as well as atorvastatin. Your probably already in the system, but I'll vouch for the fellas at the Florida Heart Center in St Lucie West if your still in the area. ___________________________ "I Get It Now" Beth Greene

I was on losartan for several months. One day I could not move, literally. On the couch. Nearly unconscious. Mrs. Elk and our daughter did the research into the drug, and found that what I had was known side effect. Flushed the stuff down the toilet. It has been nearly 4 weeks since then, and I am nearly back to "normal". Was at the doc's office a few days ago, he measured my blood pressure, 127/72 without drugs. Only prescription drug I am on now is glipizide for diabetes, and with a little luck and losing a few more pounds I will be able to get off that, too. OK, let's try this again. You were told you have "had a heart attack or two". Was that diagnosis made by EKG? Have you had an echocardiogram to assess the ejection fraction (percent of blood pumped out with each beat)? Have you had a stress test to see if you are at risk of another heart attack? Are you on low-dose aspirin? Are you on an ACE inhibitor such as lisinopril? Is metoprolol tartrate the right form, or should you be on metoprolol succinate as having more evidence of benefit in patients with reduced ejection fraction? Do you need a coronary angiogram? Any discussion about that, or about treatment possibly needed other than two blood pressure medications? What, your doctor didn't discuss any of that with you? Well, OK then. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Yes diagnosis from EKG. No echocardiogram. No stress test. Now on aspirin. No medications at all. No coronary angiogram. Sjtill, thank you very much for the input. I will not be able to make an appointment with a cardiologist till late January between work and Federal jury duty I have no available time till then. I have a follow up on January 8th with the primary I guess to discuss results of blood work. I'm not one to just take a medication on the word of one person and without fully researching it. There was not an incident that made me go to the doctor, the wife sent me because it had been a while and my loss of sex drive and general irritability these days. _____________________________________________ I may be a bad person, but at least I use my turn signal.

Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. |
It makes SOME people cough. If it doesn’t make you cough you continue to use it. If it makes you cough you switch meds. Simple.

I started taking Linsopril years ago, kept getting more joint pain, read the side effects and quit taking it, about 6 months later most of the joint pain was gone.

I take both of those meds, along with 2 other BP meds, I hate it. Linsinopril worked best for me, but seemed to have affected my liver more, so now my vascular Dr. Gives me lower dosages from the four BP groups. When I take all my meds, in the AM,about an hour later, it feels like my house has fallen on top of me. The only time I feel human,is the time betwwen when I get up , until an hour or so after I take my lb of meds. 美しい犬

I was put on metoprolol right after my valve repair in October. It was not lowering my BP, so they started me on 12.5 MG of carvedilol twice a day. Now I'm waiting for the results of an echocardiogram and they'll decide if I should be on lisinopril.

For my moderately elevated BP I take a small dose of clonidine daily and Lasix (furosemide) as needed and a potassium pill along with the Lasix to offset the depletion issue. This works for me at keeping BP under 130 and usually 120-125 over 70. I never took Metoprolol but did try lisinopril for a short period and absolutely could not tolerate it. I used to take HTCZ daily, but got changed to Lasix as needed if I feel bloated. No side effects from either HTCZ or Lasix. I doubt you'll have any real issues with HTCZ provided you get your labs done as your Dr recommends which in the beginning might be every two-three months.
