My 2016 Forester is in need of new tires. It wears a P225/60R17. I'm not very impressed with the factory Yokohama Geolandar G91s, which wore out in 2.5 years at 30k miles. The dealership is recommending Yokohama Avid Touring-S, which reportedly last about twice as long. What do you guys like for a good all-season tire for a crossover SUV? Bonus points if they're quieter than these Geolandars. Winter performance isn't a very high priority. My last car used Michelin LTX M/S2s, which I was very happy with. So I'm considering putting Premier A/Ss, Premier LTXs, or Defender THs on this one.

When I need tires for any of our vehicles, it's a two-step process for me. First, I take a look at the Tire Rack website, get their recommendation. Then I go to the local Discount Tire store, discuss my needs with them. This process has not let me down yet. Been doing it for 30 years. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

If off road ability is not a primary concern, I highly recommend Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. Long treadlife warranty, very quiet, good dry grip, great in the wet.

I am really impressed with the Continental Cross Contact Lx20 all weather tires on my Sorento. I've got 25k miles on them and you'd never know it by looking at them. They are quiet and are great in the snow. Like V-Tail, I like Discount Tire and have been going to them for over 30 years as well. Highly recommend the Michelin Premier A/S, Defender, or Premier LTX depending on your particular needs. I have the Michelins on both our 2014 Forester XT and 2013 Forester Premium X non-turbo and have been very happy with them. Check Costco, Tirerack.com, and other local places for best pricing but Michelin also tends to run rebate specials three or four times a years to help with the cost as well. -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

I drive a 2016 OB. I currently have a set of Michelin Premier LTX and they are a great tire that have lots of wonderful reviews except that have one bad characteristic - they don't last. I've had mine for 26k and they will not make 40k. Maybe 35k at most. I have them rotated every 6k when the oil is changed and they aren't going to last to the 60k guarantee. That's the one fault. When these go I will replace them with the Pirelli P7 Plus. Harder compound with a 70k warranty. They come up a bit short in really wet weather but for a customer touring tire, they have few peers. Love the Michelin but not the early replacement.

We have the Yokohama Geolander G055 on my wife's Highlander. They are very quiet and we are approaching 3 years and 30k miles on them and they look as new as the day we bought them. Excellent traction in all weather and very quiet. Ours is an AWD model. I am not sure the difference between the G91 and the G055 but the 91s may be more of an OE type tire that really aren't made for mileage but just to get the vehicle past the warranty period. ETA: a quick reading on tiretack the G91 mentions OE multiple times. So that is likely the answer as to why they were not so great. I have yet to find a tire that came factory that I would ever buy again outside of Michelin. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. After some research, I put a set of Michelin Defenders on my 2014 Outback. They are great handling tires with excellent wet road traction. Got them from Costco. My OEM tires were Conti Sport Contacts and I liked them, too. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.

I would go with the Michelin Defender T+H if winter performance can be slightly less. Its an 80,000 mile tire that still gets gets great reviews and is reasonably quiet. I am putting a set of the LTX M/S on my wife's Rav4 because we need all the winter performance we can get. I have been pretty happy with the Michelins I have on my current vehicles and feel like they wear better than the other brands.

Michelin Defender T+Hs are currently at the top of my list, based on my research so far. And it looks like I can get them for $748 shipped/installed using TireRack, plus they're currently offering a $100 rebate. But I'm still open to other suggestions, and will continue to research for a couple weeks before buying.

225/60R-17 Sumitomo Touring LS T I had the above on my 2011 outback and got around 60k on them before they wore out. Awesome in snow, rain, gravel. Never got into any deep mud with them. Only issue is at the tail end of life they did get louder.

Rogue, I just put 4 Michelin Premier AS tires on my Volvo. Really like the ride, and they're quiet. 60k treadwear ! If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

My wife's 2016 only got 25k on Michelin Premiere LTX. We had to insist on Costco doing a size deviation to use the Defender LTX in 225-65-17. We have no clearance issues whatsoever. We had to use Michelins numbers for stock to get them to go with it and meet their 3% deviation limit. Their book was a smidge off. Much happier. Have Defender LTX M/S on both Forresters now.

I'm not one to cheap-out on tires. I do my research and usually go Bridgestone or BFG. I just got new tires in 225/65/17 a week ago. I took a chance on the Radar Dimax AS-8. Their low-price is certainly attractive, but I was swayed by their overwhelmingly positive reviews - not just hundreds but thousands [on Amazon]. I was expecting them to be made in China. When they arrived, I was please to see they are made in Thailand; Thailand knows rubber. I've only had them a short time, but so far I feel they've lived up to billing. The tires they replaced were Goodyears that never impressed me. These Radars have completely changed the handling of my car. They run a lot quieter too. I looked up on Walmart.com, and they're currently $69.44 in your Subaru's size.
