My 2002 cummin's turbo diesel dodge will be coming out of the shop soon. With the diesel of today what are you guys adding to your fill ups to keep your pickups humming along like clockwork. The white bottle with red cap Power Service or something else. I really need to keep this rig running good for another 250kThen on to the million mile club. Thanks guys. I think they all are mostly fine. I happen to prefer the stanadyne myself, but have used power service as well. Not sure your location but the winter versions are different and needed at least where I live. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

As mentioned, the area of the country matters for your choice, and varies through the year. I like howes, but I use stanadyne, because its readily available. I don't love power service, I didn't like the way it seemed to disentigrate the filters in my 7.3L, and so I just haven't really used it since. The CP4 pump in my 6.7L has me babying my fuel system. I change filters every oil change, and run stanadyne in every tank, despite what Ford said for the first 5 years. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The trouble with our Liberal friends...is not that they're ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so." Ive been using this for several years in my ram 6.7 I'd swear my EGT are about 10-20 degrees cooler. I feel it does what it claims it does. Stanadyne, but have used Howes. Primarily for lubrication of my 2000 5.9 Cummins since the low sulphur fuel was mandated. Also seem to minimize black exhaust at altitude during summer heat when engine is under load, as well as antigel during low winter temperatures though diesel is treated by supplier. Jim

I use the Power Service (in the white bottle) in the winter and have a bottle of Diesel 911 (in the red bottle) just in case the fuel gels up. I've had that 911 bottle in the pickup for more than 10 years - so far so good ETA: This reminds me - I need to use up some of my summer diesel - the pickup didn't get used a bunch this summer...

All I've ever added was diesel. My last one had 240K on it when I traded it in on this one that has 120 now. Not one problem with either engine. I use Hot Shot's products, they have a pretty broad spectrum of additives for fuel and oil.

I add Power Service Diesel Kleen to every tank of fuel. I have a 2016 Duramax, so I put a lift pump on it also.

Been a diesel tech for 42 years. We sell a few different additives at our shop. Our customers like the Stanadyne the most. We sell it in bulk to a lot of fleet customers.

When I worked for a large snack food Co.,they had 4 cylindar delivery trucks and would give us some stuff that was almost like a jell, and didn’t work in the winters here. I finally one year added a gallon of kerosene to every 20 gallons of Diesel and no problems.I know it’s illegal but if the cops wanted to check it they would have to drop the tank themselves.

I use stanadyne in isuzu turbo diesel box truck and a milsurp diesel generator. Use to use power service but after a few reviews switched.

Why do you want a diesel additive? (improved performance/mpg? anti-gel/bacterial? injector pump [lubricity]? keeping injectors tip-top?) Different animal than your HD truck, but for my VW tdi; I was concerned that the ULSD fuel would shorten the life of the $,$$$ injector pump... I ended up using Red-Line RL-2 https://www.redlineoil.com/rl-...el-ignition-improver very economical and concentrated. Ended up selling the VW back at 90k miles, but never had a single problem FWIW: At the time there were recommendations to use 2-stroke oil in diesel fuel for the same reason, but I didn't for fear of damaging the equally expensive diesel particulate filter

I use Amsoil: https://www.amsoil.com/p/diese...e-adb/?code=ADBHG-EA Stock up on anti-gel. Last winter, there was a shortage due to the unusual southern deep freeze. There were a lot of vehicles with gelled diesel.

Additives are a rabbit hole, one which I have journeyed down for a significant length! - For fuel lubricity I'll add one of the Optilube or Hotshots: https://opti-lube.com/diesel-fuel-additives/ https://www.hotshotsecret.com/shop/ - For oil changes, same again - either Optilube or Hotshots: https://opti-lube.com/oil-products/ https://www.hotshotsecret.com/...egory/oil-additives/ - Additionally, I use fuel system cleaners and oil additives from either brand for both gas and diesel vehicles. Other products I use are: - something to kill bacteria growth in fuel tank. I only add it every now and again and I can't remember the brand, but I think any will work. - anti-freeze additive (usually Redline Water Wetter). I also have a dual fuel filter pump. It came with the truck and I can't find any markings to say whether it's Air Dog or FASS so I researched the filters it came with and bought some with better filtration after cross-referencing. Filters get changed every 10-15k. For oil filtration I use the expensive Fleetguard. There are two types - one for about $15 and the other for a little over $30. I keep the oil in for quite a while because I use a bypass filter (see below) and get the oil tested by Blackstone Labs. My opinion - I use the best products I can find for any maintenance of machinery. This last item (for now, anyway) seems to stir up a lot of controversy - Frantz Filters. I had one installed and change the element every 2k miles and top up with oil. The filtration is done using a roll of toilet paper but there is a specific type and size (tube diameter and roll size) that needs to be used. I'm not going to list any links as I don't want this thread to devolve into something is isn't. Just saying I have one and think it's worthwhile. I leave it up to you to research and see if it's something for you. Amsoil offers excellent bypass filtration option as well. Somewhere I've got a list of all the numbers to the filters I use, I just have to find it or get under the truck and write them down again. I'll gather that info. and update later.

I use Lucas and have for years on my Gas rigs. I see some recommend it for diesels as well. It does say for gas and diesel engines. I see some recommend it. A guy I know uses it in his diesel. Any thoughts on it. I am not looking for something to increase power. Mostly keep the engine running smooth. Keep the fuel system clean and lubricated so all the components operate as they should.
