The government took slave owners legally owned property, without compensation, so I guess the government should pay the children of those who lost their property. That sounds about as logical as paying people money due to their skin color. I'm white, my family came here in 1939 as refugees, do I pay? We never had slaves and fled genocide. Who do I pay it to? So let's walk this through.... What's the number per person? $50,000 .....$100,000.....$1,000,000. How much is appropriate? Does everyone get the same amount or is there some type of suffering index to be applied? Should we prorate for anyone born after the civil rights movement? Whether or not any money actually changes hands, talk of reparations will reinforce an entitlement mindset already existing among too many blacks. I don't see how it won't lead to worse attitudes, more confrontations and criminality, and lesser enforcement within a protected and special class. The left stirs the pot, everyone suffers.
