I have an older Sony Trinitron tube-type TV that does not have an HDMI input. I would like to use it for streaming. I have Roku and Apple TV streaming thingys that have HDMI only output. Are there any older models of Roku or other, that support RCA type connections? Or is there an inexpensive adapter that will accept an HDMI signal from Apple TV or Roku and provide RCA type connection to the TV? Note that I am not a TV watcher, not looking for super high quality, and I won't use the sound as I am hearing impaired and depend on closed captioning. This TV is within view of the kitchen, so it would mostly be tuned to a news channel that I could see while working in the kitchen. The TV is fairly close to my network router, so wifi will work just fine, or if necessary, I could run an ethernet cable. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

HDMI has been the standard for well over a decade at this point, a standard that predates the rise of streaming devices like that. So I don't know of any streaming devices that offer RCA outputs. But there are HDMI-to-RCA convertor boxes, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Convert...lu-Ray/dp/B0814Z34XG You should be able to connect the streaming device to the HDMI input on that converter, then connect the RCA output to your TV.

No experience, but HDMI->RCA is fairly common & cheap HDMI-RCA examply I'd try this over finding a dedicated player that might be older tech.

Thanks, folks. Looks like there are a few adapters that will do the job, and smschulz pointed me at an article that indicates a half dozen older Roku units that will work without an adapter. No longer in production of course, but I should be able to find one on eBay. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

There was an older Roku with RCA connections IIRC, you may be able to find on eBay or other places? Whether it’s still supported, that’s another question.

At some point, I suggest looking at the cost-benefit ratio of adapters vs. a TV. With aging eyes, the 4K LED TV is far superior to the Trinitron. Quality of viewing, eye strain, and energy costs are far lower. Adapters and cables might cost $50, which could go towards a $200 LED TV. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

This ^^^^^ We picked up a 24 in. Vizio at Costco or Sam's, a couple months back, for all of $130 or so. I don't like tossing perfectly good stuff, but, I'd argue, a CRT TV that doesn't even have an ATSC tuner in it, while fully-operational with respect to what it was designed-for, no longer qualifies as "perfectly good stuff." I had one of those. Original LT from like 12 years ago. It was no longer supported, so that was that. https://www.cordcuttersnews.co...for-roku-lt-players/ .

Yeah. We had a Roku 2 I nearly volunteered to gift to V-Tail, which I thought I recalled had a composite A/V output. I went downstairs to check the "HT equipment" box and it's not there. Must've already sent it off to the electronic recycler's. Here's the Roku 2 Product Page. Roku indicates it's still supported. It does have a composite A/V output. "America is at that awkward stage. I have an old 1st Gen Apple TV from 2007 or so and it has component video outs. Not sure if it would even work now with respect to software support.

Some of the previous replies mention support or lack thereof, for older units. What does this mean in practical terms? Do the units that are no longer supported, still function? Just not updatable to the latest software? Or do they just stop working? "Not updatable" would not be a problem for me, given my intended use. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I was thinking "not updatable" and thus not able to access the streaming services that need updated apps.
