Wife and I stopped by the local Sam’s Club to pick up some Halloween candy and while picking up some fruit I saw a large amount of 15” Pumpkin Pies being put out. At a cost of $5.65 each, we decided it was worth a try.

We were pleasantly surprised with the great flavor and freshness of this pie. We do not have a Costco nearby so I cannot speak to how the Sam’s pie compares to the Costco pie but I know the Costco Pumpkin Pies seems to be a huge seller this time of year.

Can anyone who has had both compare the flavor and freshness of the Sam’s Pumpkin Pie to the Costco Pumpkin Pie? Just curious as to if they are very similar. Thanks

Never had either; however, while eating a slice of pizza at our local Costco just short of Thanksgiving last year, we watched people rolling cartloads of pumpkin pies out the door.

I'll be trying my first Costco pumpkin pie soon after reading on here for years how good they are. At the size of the things I'm thinking a couple of the neighbors will be enjoying it too.

I am going with the Costco.

Had the Sams pumpkin pie few weeks ago. It was good, but could have had a little more "pumpkin" flavor. But for the price, it was very good!

Haven’t had the pumpkin but the cherry pies from Costco is great. Likewise the Apple. I don’t shop at Sam’s so I can’t compare. Only complaint is that it’s only my wife and I so the bulk ends up going to waste.

They both go perfect with kale, right in the garbage!


Never been a pumpkin anything fan. Mincemeat for the win, but hard to find these days. Costco pecan pies are the bomb though.

The only thing that could make it tolerable for me was my late mother's homemade whip cream.
It could make a stick pumpkin pie tolerable.

I am not a Sam’s Club guy, I’ve been a Costco shopper forever. But I have to say I’ve never had a bad pie from Costco, they’re always huge and heavy.

Easy fix for this: next time you buy one, take half right away and wrap it tightly in lots of plastic wrap and foil and put it in the freezer.

Yep, I have NEVER liked pumpkin pie.

For Thanksgiving, give me buttermilk pie (oh yeah), pecan, chess, sweet potato, apple pie. I pass on pumpkin.

I have had both and both are good. Both places have onsite bakeries so the pies are fresh.

I believe that Costco is larger. I refer to them as wagon wheels.

Costco, easy answer. Their bakery puts out some solid items, not great but good enough and their pumpkin pies are their most famous and sought after creation. Like their $5 roast chickens there was several decades where customers would linger waiting for a worker to put out the next batch...now they're stacked-up by Oct 1st all the way to till the end of the year.

Sam's Club bakery seems to check its box of goods but nothing I've come across would buy again.

PS- I just picked up a bottle of Blanton's at Costco....they had about twenty-cases available, one-bottle per member $64.99

Sam’s is N.A.S.T.Y! It’s like a Yugo vs a Ferrari. I don’t know what they do but it’s like Sam’s goes out of its way to be nasty.

Heap on the whipped cream, the pie below doesn’t matter.

I’ve never tried the Sam’s club pies. But we have gotten one from Costco at Thanksgiving for the last 5 or 6 years at least. They’re cheap and good and it’s one less thing we have to make.
