Ron Bushy, original drummer from Iron Butterfly, died today
If you don't know who Ron Bushy is, he was the original drummer for Iron Butterfly, and was the drummer that performed the drum solo on the original In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album.
He passed away peacefully, with his wife Nancy by his side, at 12:05am on August 29th at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. All three of his daughters were also with him. He was a real fighter. He was born Dec 23, 1941.
When I was in middle school, as a young drummer, I always listened and tried to emulate his famous solo. More recently, he was active on Facebook, and I corresponded with him a couple of times, asking him how he achieved the sound he obtained from his drums on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

RIP RB. Many a day emulating your solo. Classic Rock and Roll.
Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark.

My friend that I lived with in Vail Co. had shared a house with Ron on the Coast. We rode out to the Coast back in '81 and spent 2 weeks with Ron, his wife and Kids. I just got done sending flowers and a note to Nancy. The World is a sadder place today.

Aw, man. I love Iron Butterfly. As a teen in the 80s I was fascinated by the acid rock genre.
RIP, sir, you’ve inspired me.
