If you don't know who Ron Bushy is, he was the original drummer for Iron Butterfly, and was the drummer that performed the drum solo on the original In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album. He passed away peacefully, with his wife Nancy by his side, at 12:05am on August 29th at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. All three of his daughters were also with him. He was a real fighter. He was born Dec 23, 1941. When I was in middle school, as a young drummer, I always listened and tried to emulate his famous solo. More recently, he was active on Facebook, and I corresponded with him a couple of times, asking him how he achieved the sound he obtained from his drums on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

RIP RB. Many a day emulating your solo. Classic Rock and Roll. Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. “If in winning a race, you lose the respect of your fellow competitors, then you have won nothing” - Paul Elvstrom "The Great Dane" 1928 - 2016

My friend that I lived with in Vail Co. had shared a house with Ron on the Coast. We rode out to the Coast back in '81 and spent 2 weeks with Ron, his wife and Kids. I just got done sending flowers and a note to Nancy. The World is a sadder place today.

Aw, man. I love Iron Butterfly. As a teen in the 80s I was fascinated by the acid rock genre. RIP, sir, you’ve inspired me.
