EDIT 06/14/24: US Supreme Court decision 6-3 OVERTURNING ATF bump stock ban!!
EDIT 06/14/2024. HUGE win with 6-3 SCOTUS decision upholding lower court ruling that ATF acted outside their authority and thus bump stock ban declared unconstitutional.

https://www.thetruthaboutguns....down-bump-stock-ban/

The Supreme Court is going to take up the bump stock ban this session! Mark Smith talks in detail about it below and believes it could also mean the end of the "new" pistol brace ruling by the ATF. Going to be an interesting 2024 in regards to Second Amendment Rights and very hopeful for good news.

In other news today the Illinois AWB was upheld by a 3 judge panel 2-1 on the US 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Todd Vadermyde is saying in his video today he believes that will be appealed directly to SCOTUS rather than en banc hearing at the 7th.

EDIT: Latest video from Mark Smith on win 06/14/24

Really wish some of these SCOTUS decisions would include some teeth to personally bankrupt and prosecute politicians who ignore them, either in spirit or letter. I can see ATF getting crushed in this, but states and cities ignoring it and trying to go after gun owners with their own laws and police.

I understand but not really the purpose of SCOTUS which is to interpret laws as Constitutional or not but not enforcement per se. The party that runs the blue states has a long history of abuse of power when it comes to it's citizens and their civil rights. Hopefully they will get tired of eventually paying many massive settlements for continuing to ignore the law. Hopefully soon SCOTUS will put more clarity on bans on "assault weapons" and magazine bans. Word is that Illinois AWB is going to be appealed to SCOTUS very soon. Also the 9th Circuit Court of appeals recently gave SCOTUS their temper tantrum middle finger with their corrupt ways about the recent GVR'd California magazine ban Miller v Bonta.

Mr. Kook
I would very much like it if they addressed the SBR and SBS provisions in the NFA and ruled them (among other parts) to be unconstitutional. That would put an end to much of the ATF's BS.

Thank you President Trump.

I agree. But I bet a lot of states have laws that make some officials personally liable for bad faith actions. And it'd be nice to see some of them cited in SCOTUS majority decisions, you know, to encourage some lawsuits against those pols and bureaucrats.

Mark Smith reporting update on the bump stock ban case. He feels there will be a good decision coming out for this reading the tea leaves which we should hear more of soon now that this session of SCOTUS is wrapping up. Apparently John Roberts has sided with the three leftist justices. Roll Eyes

I wonder what kind of case we need to bring to get a ban on politicians or at least an injunction that prohibits them from crafting any news laws for a period of say 10 years.

That would give us time to eliminate a bunch of agencies and all of their associated laws.

Today is another good day for us. I’ll take a win against the ATF any day.

Just read it. The dissenting opinions are full of ridiculous "logic". The most important thing about this isn't even bump stocks. I think they are a bit of a ridiculous accessory. I hope the take away from this is that the ATF, and other organizations, get reined in on their "rule" and "regulation" making. You aren't a publicly elected legislative organization, assholes!

6-3 decision.

Fuck you!! Haha! Smile

In the first para the discent acknowledges what the definition of a "machine gun" is but in the next para fails to admit a bump stock does not do that. Then she talks about a nature walk ()in know, not really) in a US Supreme Court decision!

quote:
JUSTICE S OTOMAYOR, with whom JUSTICE KAGAN and
JUSTICE JACKSON join, dissenting.

On October 1, 2017, a shooter opened fire from a hotel room overlooking an outdoor concert in Las Vegas, Nevada, in what would become the deadliest mass shooting in U. S. history. Within a matter of minutes, using several hundred rounds of ammunition, the shooter killed 58 people and wounded over 500. He did so by affixing bump stocks to commonly available, semiautomatic rifles. These simple devices harness a rifle’s recoil energy to slide the rifle back and forth and repeatedly “bump” the shooter’s stationary trigger finger, creating rapid fire. All the shooter had to do was pull the trigger and press the gun forward. The bump
stock did the rest.

Congress has sharply restricted civilian ownership of machineguns since 1934. Federal law defines a “machinegun” as a weapon that can shoot “automatically more than one
shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.” 26 U. S. C. §5845(b). Shortly after the Las Vegas massacre, the Trump administration, with widespread bi-partisan support, banned bump stocks as machineguns under the statute.

Today, the Court puts bump stocks back in civilian hands. To do so, it casts aside Congress’s definition of “machinegun” and seizes upon one that is inconsistent with the ordinary meaning of the statutory text and unsupported bycontext or purpose. When I see a bird that walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck. A bump-stock-equipped semiautomatic rifle fires “automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.” §5845(b). Because I, like Congress, call that a machinegun, I respectfully dissent.

^^^^ Exactly.

Shows the mental deficiencies' of liberal thinking.
Just say we are what we are not >>> makes it so.
Woman with no dick >> man.
Single aka semi-auto trigger with established definition of single pull is not automatic then add force to make it faster >>>> machine gun.

I am amazed they didn't arrest Jerry Miculek as a human machine gun without a license. Eek

Stupid leftists. A bump stock does not fit the definition of a machine gun. Good grief! Roll Eyes

I've never owned a bump stock and almost certainly never will, but if someone wants one, they should be allowed to obtain one. If they wish to criminalize fast shooting, Jerry Miculek had better go into hiding.

This was about much more than bump stocks. This ruling says the ATF cannot make laws and overreached their authority like they have many times before. It stops now, and all of the regulations they have put in place can be overturned.

AND THERE IS OUR PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF THINGS THESE DAYS.

Simply because you call it something does NOT actually mean it is that something! Words have definitions and meaning!

Nice to see at least 6 understand the Constitution. Smile

Not that I want or need a tool to waste ammo quickly...but different strokes for different folks.

And anything that throws grit in the gears of regulatory overreach like that is good in my book.
