Unfortunately after having the Wu Flu, I can’t drink cola. It all tastes horrible to me.

Gosling’s is good with coke as is Pyrat
I like any darker rum with coke but not a fan of the clear rums.

When I was in Puerto Rico 20ish years ago, I toured the Bacardi factory. Afterward, there was a tasting and one of the rums I sampled they didn't export. Bacardi Gold tastes the closest to it so I always enjoy it with Coke as it brings back a good memory.

I currently have Flor de Cana sitting in my liquor cabinet. The reason is I enjoyed it while in Grand Cayman 8 years ago, and it brings back a good memory. Not sure why the hotel bar served Flor de Cana when the island distills several of its own rums, but regardless I associate Flor de Cana with that trip.

Over the years, I've enjoyed Captain Morgan and Sailor Jerry's as well.

Warning, I am a rum snob. Bacardi actually does make a good rum, it is Bacardi Black. Appleton makes some very good rums, I’d start with their Appleton Estate. Meyers, Mount Gay, Pussers, Goslings, are all good and much better than Bacardi. If you want a spiced rum, try Kraken. Flor de Cana is excellent, but a little pricey. If they resumed importing it to the US, Westerhall has some really good rums for the money in their Number 3 and Number 5. I can’t remember the name of my favorite “mixer” rum at the moment, I just ran out.

Captain Morgan was always my go to. I've been drinking it for over 40 years now. Never cared for Bacardi, Meyers, etc. I drank Sailor Jerry for a bit but I felt that it was a bit too harsh for my liking. Plus, over time, the price increased quite a bit. I recently discovered a brand that I had not seen before - Blackheart. It is a 93-proof spiced rum but has a nice, mild aroma and flavor. The company says it has vanilla, cherry, and caramel notes. It's similar to Captain Morgan but without the powerful vanilla aroma. I quite like it and while the price of Captain Morgan has come back down over the years, Blackheart is even less expensive; at least around here. A few months ago, I picked up a 1.75 liter bottle for $20. It has become my current favorite and I will drink it with Coke, Cherry Coke, or Vanilla Coke depending on my preference for the day.

I like a rum and Coke, but put a couple dashes of Angostura bitters in it. Knocks the sweetness back a touch and really improves it in my opinion.

Here's my question: What other flavors of Bicardi Rum should I try next for drinking with Coke, or other brands/styles/flavors of Run for mixing with coke ?

I won't be drikning the rum by itself, only with coke, so I don't need recommendations for sipping it, just mixing it with coke, in case that precludes brands to expensive or high brow to mix with coke.

What do you say ?

Bacardi is low quality rum. Try Captain Morgan and coke which has a unique flavor (spiced). Flor De Cana, Appleton, Myers, Havana Club, and several others.

This combo resulted in Doc Steve and a riding lawnmower naked.

I’m partial to Captain Morgan Black and Coke. And on occasion with Mountain Dew.

I’m not very cultured, have a wide allowance to try things. I have some ‘Sailor Jerry’s’, bought a few on clearance at Walmart. It’s a little stronger, but mixed is no biggie.

Speaking of strong, just back from a U.P. of MI trip, mostly visiting. I did manage about 70 miles on the snowmobile, including a trail side pit stop. For an owner of the bar the lady was weak in more ways than one.

First off, she didn’t know what I was getting at when asking about IPA options. Since she was busy I thought I’d simplify with the same drink as my partner, rum & coke. That was kinda ok, but I think I’m used to my home recipe. I’ll take them rather stiff. I did have another, but that was it, weak.

My riding partner has a narrow range with run, Captain Morgan. Even with the specialty variants, ‘black’ whatever he starts to question it. I doubt he could tell the difference mixed anyway.

I’m also a Sailor Jerry fan, so much so that years ago I got the hula girl tattooed on my arm, youth…I drink it with Coke Zero and a dash of lime juice.

I prefer a dark rum. Myers's is my go-too.
