Question about Rum with Classic Coke Login/Join

I enjoyed a bottle of Bacardi's Gold Rum, which I mix with Classic Coke on ice. It was pretty good.

Here's my question: What other flavors of Bicardi Rum should I try next for drinking with Coke, or other brands/styles/flavors of Run for mixing with coke ?

I won't be drikning the rum by itself, only with coke, so I don't need recommendations for sipping it, just mixing it with coke, in case that precludes brands to expensive or high brow to mix with coke.

What do you say ?

The absolute best rum to pair with a Classic Coke is nowhere near Bacardi.

Try a solera style rum, Santa Teresa 1796 is the gold standard. $40, can be mixed or consumed neat.

Full disclosure - from the Caribbean, extended family is active in the rum/rhum business.

I'm a Captain Morgan Spiced Rum drinker so…

If you are happy with the Bacardi Gold, try switching the mixer. Cherry Coke, vanilla coke, Squirt, real ginger ale, or an orange soda.

I like Topper’s flavored rhums but I either shoot them or in a glass over ice. I don’t think Rum and Coke is improved by a flavored rum.

The standard rum drink in our house is a Cuba Libre- Coca Cola, Appleton rum, and lime.

I'm a fan of the Dominican Rums like Brugal Extra Viejo and Barcelo Anejo.

Maybe I am wrong, but I would think the brand of rum wouldn’t matter that much when mixed with Coke. I haven’t drank soda for almost 30 years, but when I did with alcohol, it was Bacardi and Coke. When I make Pina Coladas for my wife, I use Bacardi.

I like Sailor Jerry and Coke. I feel like it tastes like Vanilla Coke and it’s pretty stiff. Sailor is 46% so it’s fun.

Or you can do Bacardi 151 Eek

I like Captain Morgan but with Diet Pepsi, shoot me! Another favorite is Baccardi and tonic with a lime wedge.

Mt. Gay rum. That is the first rum I had that wasn’t Bacardi. It’s great neat or over a cube. I have heard of most of the other rums listed here and want to try them. The Appleton and Sailor Jerry I have tried. All are better than Bacardi in my opinion.
