And then at some point the discussion forum then turns into an encyclopedia

Isn’t this the purpose of a discussion forum? You’re not required to click on every thread, you can skip the ones that don’t interest you. You know that, right?

Well said. Now if there is a duplicate thread in the last month or so no harm in responding to the new thread with a direction to the existing thread. But otherwise, lighten up and let's have a discussion if the topic interest you if not pass on by.

The Sigforum header states Quality Firearms, Quality Discussion

If there is a non-firearm topic every two weeks, it's unlikely Sigforum's knowledgeable members will comment on it. Then, the discussion isn't quality and Sigforum ceases distinguishing itself from other forums and becomes a garbage dump for post-whores.

To have quality discussion, the OP bears some responsibility to search.

Just a suggestion that might enlighten the new members.

There's a ton of great information hidden away here.
I last counted 12 experts on 24 different subjects.

And another 30 people that frequently add their personal experiences and anticdotes.

And we've lost some with that had valuable knowledge.

No it's not a requirement or an edict .
Just a great resource.

Problem is SIGforum's software's search function is notoriously poor. Sometimes it'll cough-up what you want. Often as not it will not. Sometimes a search engine will work, using the "site:sigforu.com" thing, other times not so much.

One site came up with a novel (?) idea: They (somebody?) created a "Master Reference To Frequently Discussed Topics" post. E.g.:

Topic: The SIGforum Master List Of Frequently Discussed Topics & Questions Frequently Asked

WiFi Routers and Other Networking Gear

link...
link...
link...

Cutting The (Cable TV/Satellite) Cord

link...
link...
link...

Automotive

link...
link...
link...

Gun Safes, Holsters, Holster Makers, etc.

link...
link...
link...

Y'all get the idea.

Heck, maybe the Power That Be would even sticky it and cross-post it to multiple sub-forums.

No: I am most definitely not volunteering to do it Wink

I have never understood this angst. On another forum there is this one idiot who responds to every question with a smug “you know you can search” response and some links. Occasionally I will click on the links and they rarely answer the question.

This isn’t my forum but for fucks sake wouldn’t a better philosophy be just don’t click on threads that are click bait or asks a question that irks you?

Nope, let’s go on their thread and shit on them for not researching the answer.

Who the fuck cares if somebody asks about socks? Again. Skip the post and read the next one. There. That is my rant. On your thread. Hypocrisy at it’s finest. I have proven my own thesis. Lol, I am part of the problem.

No need to go all Earnest T. Bass,

Someone took the time, effort and had the foresight to offer a valuable tool for people to use,

Some of the new folks are'nt familiar with it,
Some of the old folks forget about it.

Your "rant" regarding the offering of assistance to others,
Well,
Out of place might be the phrase that would be appropriate.

Abstinence works both ways

Yea bendable that’s what the hypocrite comment was about. Guess that went over your head. Like I said, we all got opinions, bitching about someone asking a question you know the answer to and don’t want to answer is messed up. Answer the question. Or don’t. Or your option, bitch about it. FML.

If you're talking about the two search options: I addressed this already: Neither is particularly effective. This is well-known.

Indeed. E.g.: Some members might wish to consider abstaining from bitching about other members' behavior on a regular basis, lest they grow tiresome Wink

Bendable there are multiple posters who don’t agree with your complaint. You singled out mine. I’m not the only one on this thread who disagrees with you regardless of what your “reread” told you. Relax. I don’t agree with your point. It’s not the end of the world.

I will start a steel case Russian ammo is great thread so everybody can disagree with me. Maybe even ask what the best pair of socks to wear with flip flops is if I start feeling jiggy. Sound fair? Lol

I did like your almost haiku.

A. I am by no means complaining.

The more threads the better.

Anyone that doesn't agree that there is valuable information to be had in previous threads is well , I don't know what.

B.
Why you continue to piss in my threads is beyond me,
Its a habit of yours,

I've taken no food from your mouth, nor slept with your women / men.
