Congratulations and good on you for treating your employee right.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

One day she'll make the mistake of misnaming the day.

I've long suffered this embarrassment. I've been retired a lonnnnng time and she would cackle with glee when I mistook Sat as Sun or pick another day.

Now, after 3/4 years of retirement she does the same and it's my turn to cackle like the old SOB I Am.

She declared she wanted me to teach her how to mow with our big zero turn mower. Wow. Great. She seemed to think it would be fun..

That is as soon as operating the controls when she came into a situation that required her to exercise a bit of caution, she froze. She simply let the controls go slack in her hands and freeze. The mower advanced without her controlling it. That was the last time I let her mow...Did she find out she didn't like mowing and this was a ruse? Don't know. She's smart as hell and I think she knew I wouldn't allow her around seriously lethal, destructive machinery without competence, but she couldn't quite bring herself to say, mmmhhhhh...this isn't my thing...

Ah yes, retirement can be great fun.

She's a great cook and I'm a swamper...pretty good deal.

Awesome Congratulations on your sale and retirement. Retirement happened for me 5 years ago. I ended up doing other things, just could not sit and do nothing. We travel in our Motorhome now are taking care of an Elderly couple and I am working grounds at our summer location in a the Black Hills SD. We will help the couple out for as long as they need us. So enjoy your down time but you will find other things to keep yourself busy.
