Awhile back in someone else s post I mentioned I might retire. Mrs. Pal is retiring on June 13. I thought I might work another year. I got a call from a broker wanting to know if I would be interested in selling my business. I did not use his services but one thing he said stuck with me. He said to sell a business like mine would take between two and four years. I did not want to wait four years, Mrs. Pal has had two bouts of skin cancer and one run in with breast cancer so we want to enjoy some time without dealing with all that. I had three people I thought may be interested in buying my company, a small parking lot and street sweeping service, I only made one call. This gentleman was interested, his story was like mine when I bought the company, he had a great job in another state but his wife and three kids lived in northern Michigan and he wanted them to all stay here. We met over coffee and it looked pretty good, this was in January. As we progressed there were some snags, mostly dealing with him getting all his ducks in a roll with regard to money. At one point he was going to back out because it was taking so long he was missing out on spring cleanup work. Two weeks a go I would have bet that there would be no sale and I was prepared to work another year. About ten days a go he called and said he was ready to go. I held my breath until Friday at the bank when I got the check. With this on again off again stuff I'm not sure how I feel about all this but it is done. I will be consulting him for 90 days but now the stress is on someone else. As this is Sig Forum I feel I must throw in something Sig related. Because of the circumstances I had not told anyone about this deal. On the way home from the bank I called my employee to set up a meeting. He was at a garage sale. He called back to say he found a mag for a 226 for $2 would I like it! He brought it to the meeting(at my house). I told him about the changes and that the new owner wants him to stay on. Then I said I wanted to buy the mag and slid an envelope full of money across the table and asked if this would cover it. He was alittle taken aback and it took awhile for him to realize this was a bonus. Tears all around, I have always tried to treat my employees well and He was a great worker. Anyway,..... on to the next adventure! Jim

P-220 One of the best things about my job is that I have contracts in many of the small towns in the north. I enjoy them as well. In some of the smaller ones if you take the time to get a couple of blocks off the main road you see what these towns were like back in the day. Some of them had train stations, a real downtown, and other sights. Jim
