Lake County deputies said at least three guns were fired but other guns were found.

Acronym based response...

Just a WAG guns on both sides, its Lake County, Two Boats and two PWC...

Suspect that Alcohol is involved

Old guy on Fishing Boat bitches at PWC for riding too close

PWC guys fuck with Old Guy

PWC threatens to kick Old Guys ass

Old Guy fills 1 PWC chest with lead

Others fire back

Old Guy Fires back hits woman on boat

PWC guys won't fuck with other old guys fishing

Old Guy probably goes to jail unless he proves SYG

Florida Statute 790.053 bans open carry and 790.06 allows for concealed carry only with a permit. 790.25(3) says that those two statues do not apply in a variety of situations, including when you are "engaged in fishing, camping, or lawful hunting or going to or returning from a fishing, camping, or lawful hunting expedition." So you are correct that you cannot open carry while boating but you can while fishing (or camping or hunting). The "going to or returning from" language is notable because it could really broaden the exception if someone wanted to risk testing it (e.g. going to the grocery store to get ice and fried chicken on the way to the ramp).

I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the correction.

Yup. A Mossberg 930 I even designed (inspired by Or3gun), built and tested my own marine pusher tube to make it work better in wet environments. It runs like a champ.

It has 1/2" of contact with the mag tube in the front/back, with .04" of clearance inside, between the I'd of the pusher tube and of of the mag tube, and holes to allow water to leave.

Better question would be: why would you not be armed? Trouble lurks everywhere.

Always. I no longer have my big fishing boat but when I was fishing on the East Coast of Florida it was a Model 870 Marine Magnum. I did have occasion to use my handgun on a large Cobia from time to time.

As I suggested, follow this case as more details come out.

You'll find it very interesting. At least, that's what the little bird told me.

Perhaps Wayniac is on the right track.

I like your style Yoop. Had one of those on the first patrol boat I was on….it was a thing of beauty and could run thru ammo fast as a sewing machine.

The Boston Whaler factory is on US 1 not too far north of me.

Someday, I want to do their tour. They turn out some cool specialty boats. I've occasionally seen afew in the front lot, waiting to be shrinkwrapped and shipped.

That thing on a tripod on my front deck isn't an M2, it's an automatic line thrower.

Yes. My edc is usually in the dry box with my wallet, keys and cell phone unless i am going to be back in the skinny water, then my GP10l is on my hip loaded with snake shot.

I agree. Para has a rule that unusual acronyms need to be fleshed out the first time used. I have seen "WAG" used for "Wild A$$ed Guess" but it doesn't really seem appropriate in this case. No idea what "PRC" and "SYG" mean. Another person posted "EDC" in a later post. That may be more common on gun boards--I can speculate it means "Every Day Carry", but I could be wrong.

Would someone please come to the aid of the few here who are not "Operators" and tell us what was meant? Thank you.

This is when I ask the jargon speaker: “Is this like a score of 15 on the validity scale of the MMPI?” (Translation: when someone is trying to make themselves look bad on a psychological test)

Whenever you use an acronym you always state it’s meaning. After that, just use the acronym.

I don't need very many reasons NOT to travel to Florida, the heat and crowds are typically enough. You've given one more...lol. Seriously, the predators in Florida are different than the ones in Alaska, and calling 911 (if you have reception to do so, which you typically don't on a boat here) will get you a 2-3 day response time. We solve our own problems here when possible.
