While I may feel a touch bad for these fire volunteers, it is, in part, probably their own making. Guaranteed 97% of them are the NPR set who nodded knowingly as Terry Gross and Nina Totenberg and Steve Inskeep and all the other mealy mouthed limousine liberals preached the gospel for years, never once questioning where this was headed.

Let them wallow in what they have wrought through their inaction and lack of questioning.

Hey, it shouldn't pose much of an issue replacing these volunteers. Chicago has a ton of black homeless people wobbling around downtown. I'm sure they'd do a bang up job escorting tours around the museum.

What a retarded move. I've worked with docents - the good ones are worth their weight in gold, and we did everything to make sure they knew we appreciated them. . .

Conservatives typically try to elevate everybody to higher levels of excellence - libs just try to drag everybody down to a common level of mediocrity.

There was an interesting interview of mostly college students on diversity the other day. They started out with all the usual questions, % of mix in the community then matching the % diversity at the University.

The students all thought that was great. It happened to be game day, they then started into more diversity with the football players. When they got there, all the students didn’t like the idea, they wanted to win.

Those tour guides at the museum said they spent a lot of time studying up for the volunteer job. I’d also wager they about always had openings for any new volunteers interested.

Seems like this girl has already figured out what to do….

What an utter and horrible loss. Regardless of what the docents' political views were they were doing a job that helped people understand the significance of art in their lives.

I've leaned on docents since I first began taking my students to museums. Invariably they were well versed, personable, and could relate the information to a bunch of pre-teens in a way that mostly kept their attention. (That's high praise)

The loss of those "old white women" will be felt in ways we cannot quantify.

I suppose I shall add this to the list of things I am deeply upset by these days.

If your people were the ones swinging from trees then according to the left they must erase the accomplishments of those who were writing philosophy so "everyone's history is equal."

It's a similar reason as to why they're trying to paint the Founding Fathers of our country to be racists.

I have a relative who works in the Detroit Art Institute. She is aware of this action and is appalled. Hoping the insanity doesn't spread.

No shit. Docents are typically a bunch middle-aged to old ladies who like art, museums, being busy, who have time on their hands, and no need to work. My 84 year old mother is the perfect example. Before Covid, she was at the museum where she is a docent three days a week on average.

Working people can't do this. They don't have time. Where will they get these diverse docents?

They may end up offering paid positions to replace them.
