It kinda does... but not really.

I've seen several supposedly dead animals jump up and run away, some never to be seen again.

I doubt he hit him 7 times. Once, maybe twice? Lot's of sideways homie gun handling there during and after the shooting.

I agree. Adrenalin, PCP, etc can keep the criminal dangerous for quite a while after he is shot.

And I don't understand having any empathy for a cold-blooded, would-be murderer. All of the safety concerns need to go to the police, first responders and any bystanders. The criminal doesn't need to be abused, but he does need to be neutralized completely, whatever it takes.

The term "subdue the threat" comes to mind.

All of the necessary points to accomplish this where addressed in this situation from my corner of the world.

As we have seen several times on different videos, the suspect gets hit with gunfire, he collapses due to either sudden drop in blood pressure (think fainting) or is hit in a nerve plexus, causing the nervous system to be overwhelmed and goes rigid like from a taser hit, falling to the gound. Suspect hits the ground and a couple seconds later either his blood pressure normalizes or he gets over the nervous system being overwhelmed, and then he is back in the fight.

I'm not going to second guess the cop just from the video but he is real lucky that no one else was hit by his shots. He sure violated rule #4 for sure.

Did the guy stab him once before the cop turned around and engaged him?

Sometimes when you start a fight it doesn't always turn into a fair fight. Instead of cuffs I would have put one more round through his temple. No need for cuffs at all. Would that seem wrong too? I guess that's why I'm not a LEO.

witch safety rule did he violate? I gotta watch the second view again. didn't the second officer also shoot?

The 12 Golden rules for Safe Gun Handling
Always treat the gun as loaded.
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
Never point the gun at anything you don't intend to destroy.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
Always use proper Ammunition.
Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting.
If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun.
Don't rely on the gun's safety to keep it from firing.
Be aware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don't trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything.

In 1980 I was involved in a shooting inn which a man tried to kill me. After I shot him I cuffed him because I didn't know if he was dead or not. My Sgt. came by and ordered me to uncuff him because "it looks bad". I did. A short time later the man rose up and tried to attack me again. I didn't shoot him again but I did kick him in the head several times and knocked him out. I swore to myself after that that if I ever had to use deadly force again I would handcuff the offender until I was absolutely certain that he was either dead or unable to harm me or anyone else. So maybe that's why they handcuffed him. Just sayin.

I've cuffed dead people before.

Good job all around. Good shoot. Oh.. and you ALWAYS cuff the threat. The coroner can remove them when appropriate.

First officer was stabbed in the body and fired all the rounds.First shots were almost at contact range as the officer's left arm was blocking/deflecting or knocking away knife thrust from his left side. The rest of the rounds were at an angle to everyone else at the scene. From the angle of the videos, it looks like the people at the accident and third officer bailed to one side (up the sidewalk from accident scene) and the second officer bailed to the other side. Again, per the reports, the second officer did not fire a round.

Here is the "community" protesting the shooting:

Watching the above news report I got a real chuckle ... at the reporters last words...

"when the injured officer allegedly shot deal..."

and the protesters want body cam video released... duh? what did we just see? Some people got way too much time on their hands.... I think what they will finally find out is the guy was committing "suicide by cop." That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Thankful the officers are ok. It's a miracle the "protesters" have enough neurological function to breathe. A crowd like that shows reason and logic will never be effective in solving any issues.
I do appreciate the reporter's effort to be fair(or more likely funny) in describing the event as Deal being allegedly shot by the officer. She could've followed it with "That's all for meow" or "there's no Deal in sight".

The other explanation is "assassinate cops" like certain people (and folks Wink) and the media have called for and advocated. Usually in "suicide by cop" the suspect yells and draws attention to himself to get the cops to shoot them. In this case, this POS calmly walked up with the knife partially hidden but ready for use and then proceeded to stab the first officer without warning, yelling, anything. Sure he might have been mentally ill from self medicating with street drugs for years, which put him in a state where he was suggestible to the anti-cop agenda.

I don’t give a flying f if it looks wrong with a shot attacker handcuffed. If you have ever heard of incidents of someone on PCP totally bled out and still trying to attack, you want to make sure the attacker is handcuffed.
