I could be wrong, but I got the impression the officer knew the situation was bad news, and was playing it cool, prolonging the stop, until backup got there. If true, it's darn admirable. I thought it perhaps deliberate that, only once backup was a few steps away, the officer prompted the dude to get out.

Yes, I had to back up and watch it a few times as I thought the back-up officer was the one who got shot as well, but when he remained on scene after the other had been transported I realized I had been mistake, and I wanted to again see how it went down. The original officer was able to stay in it to the extent that he was able to find cover, return fire, move in and assess, and then finish it. After being shot at least twice? Both Deputies did a damn fine job of moving and returning fire. The very fist shots from the cops, which was from the backup Deputy, was very very effective. I think it was a solid hit, one handed to the far outside of his body, while running into a dive, in the opposite direction. This first shot CERTAINLY stopped forward momentmum of the attacker and gave both Deputies a precious second to move and react, and very easily may have saved a life. It really is a fantastic shot the more I watch it. Side note: he has some sort of red dot and it really helps the debate on their effectiveness. I'm pretty quick out of the holster and on target with my irons, but while running, one handed, into a dive, and being shot at? I am confident that I would not have obtained a sight picture before pressing trigger. But I think it is far more likely I would have obtained a red dot picture. What that part of the shooting again guys. I'm telling you it is really damn impressive.

I'm still amazed at the discipline of the two officers. If I had been the shot officer after he moved to the drivers side of the vehicle and started firing.... that woman would have been dead. You can't tell what is going on after the shooting but she surely should have been put on the ground 'forcefully' and cuffed. There is a audio later on where she asked if she is going to be arrested... I got a chuckle out of that one. One of the reasons I could never be a cop is when she kept asking to go to the bathroom I would have just told her to do it in her pants, she was not going to a bathroom anytime soon. the first shot from the backup changed the momentum. In the next frame, the officer's slide is back ejecting an empty. The bad guy reacted as if he had been hit

This is local to me. Local PD knows the Cowboys gang...probably recognized the individual. This is a rural, country-thug type operation out in Colleton county. They are apparently part of a national crime network.
