You are doing something very kind (as usual), and the payback will hopefully be a lifelong friendship.

Most Israelis are not observant Jews, many have little more than a passing knowledge of the actual rules. But they all strongly identify as Jews, and all give willingly and run towards the trouble. Like most here.

I had many in my unit who's parents or grandparents came to the new state/country from Europe, with no religion, just their lives. its very hard to believe in anything when you witness so much. But the Nazi's ID'd them all as Jews, didn't matter what level of observance. its why, at least in the IDF, there is no attitude when it comes to the level of observance.

Its a mindset, and a philosophy. I'm almost 100% sure you'll find someone very open minded, kind, tough in similar ways, philosophical, and someone who loves to embrace life. Enjoy - I'm sure you new friend will.

Yeah, I remember my visit with him and shooting my .50AE and .45 Mag Grizzly pistols in his basement. Fun!

Definitely show your guest the DE--it's an Israeli design. I have one in .50AE (but prefer the Grizzly).

Well Ben had a wonderful time!
He's so impressed with how funny and intelligent my friends that came over were.
We even called another friend in Mississippi that is a coon-ass. So ben got an education into another American culture. It was hilarious with them trying to understand each other.

Ben wanted to know HOW we made those ribs! Said he had them in Rochester NY but they were nowhere near as good as what we made.
I told him this is a Southern pastime. We compete with each other on who makes the best BBQ.

Then we shot all the guns. Of course his favorite handgun was the Desert Eagle.
And he said "I'm at home" with the IR scoped rifle.

The we set off fireworks.
He was amazed at what we could have to play with.

I think we left a good impression on him.

I'm sorry, but I would have lied to him and told him this is every weekend here in the good old USA...
But I have a messed up sense of humor.

Glad he and y'all had a great time and food!

^^^ 50AE works best with the pre-Khar muzzle brake, but there is something about the 41 Magnum...
Then again, I still have a case of 440s. Big Grin

Looks like you guys had a good time. Ben might want to come back next year.

I wonder where in Rochester he had them? (I am just outside there). Loved reading your posts and glad he got to see the genuine America.

I brought some shotguns and he said, why do you bring shotguns? We only use them to breach doors. You have no doors here to shoot.

He took my thermal scoped 22 and we went back as far into the brush as he could and still see the target and hit those little 3" spinners every time as fast as he could work the bolt.

He comes out of the woods and just says, now you know what I did in the IDF. He said a suppressed Ruger was his favorite weapon to use. He was impressed that civilians could just go out and purchase advanced optics.

I did joke with him an said aww, we do this every weekend, it's a typical Southern thing.

He was very impressed with our shooting skills.
I told him send a dozen or so of us Southerners to Gaza and y'all problems are over.
He laughed and agreed.
