That X post mentions radar, but how about AIS? How does AIS work on a ship? Does it show the postions, speeds, headings or bearings of various ships in the area broadcasting AIS on a screen of some sort? If so, how timely is the information?

I can't even imagine having to go through that cargo manifest and compensate the companies that had cargo on that ship.

I lost a HUGE piece of equipment being sent to India when the container was lost at sea.
It took months for the holding company to get compensated from that.

The mariner arrested yesterday was the master of #Solong. He is Russian and that should not be a shock as the Russians make up 10% of the crews on EU vessels.

Again, I go back to the fact that Solong sailed this track repeatedly. We have seen poor seamanship lead to such accidents. The fatigue and level of work on small feeder ships is contributing to these incidents.
