Never having been in such a situation, honestly, I'm unsure how I would react. The only thing I can say for sure is that I wouldn't light a cigarette, and this is only because I don't smoke.

I see that, once again, you are applying Occam's Razor to a given incident.

Probably just drunk as hell.

The next morning he was probably saying "i did what? There was a robbery?"

Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

I said not another punk trying to pull a punk move," Tovar told KSDK-TV Friday of the incident in Behrmann's Tavern.

"I'm so tired of people in south city trying to muscle their way in with firearms or bad attitude or some kind of aggression," he said. "I wasn't gonna comply."
This is, of course, the anticipated answer. However:

"I wasn't really concerned," Tovar told the station. "I just had a really good feeling he wasn't out to harm anybody he just wanted drug money."
Pardon me, but horse shit. Not concerned? Had a good feeling? Does that sound like a true statement to you? It doesn't sound like it to me. A man he's never seen walks in with a rifle to rob everyone, and he wasn't concerned and had a good feeling. Sorry. No. Uh uh.

The media had already laid the path for him. All he had to do was walk onto it.

Let's see- scared stiff, or in on the robbery, or drunk as a monkey, or, perhaps, just really stupid?

As we all know, of course, people committing armed robbery are entirely predictable, and your "feelings" in such a confrontation win out over your survival instinct. Right?

I agree completely. I would like to see a Mike Wallace guy sweat him a bit. My guess after viewing the tape again is alcoholic blackout. He Has no memory whatsoever of the event other than viewing the tape, and the narrative supplied by the media.

You’re probably right about him being blackout drunk. However, there is sometimes a rather fine line between bravery and stupidity...

Hey you cannot mess with certain women. From today's news:

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — A woman was arrested and faces a charge of threat of terrorism after a dentist’s office recorded a call where she threatened to kill everybody in the building over a rescheduled appointment.

The incident prompted a lockdown at a medical facility and dental office in Saratoga Springs Thursday afternoon.

Police stated 43-year-old Linda Patricia Morford of Saratoga Springs was supposed to bring her two children for an appointment at 2 p.m. but was late and had to reschedule.

The receptionist said the woman became angry about rescheduling and threatened violence.

“In a recorded phone call with the dentist receptionist, Linda advised her sometimes in these situations ‘gun people come in and they shoot everyone,’” the document states. “Linda then went on by stating, ‘I’ll be there next Tuesday at 2:00, and if we are five minutes late and you guys make us re-schedule, then I will come in and KILL EVERYBODY, that’s what I’ll do.’ Linda then says ‘Well I might this afternoon because I’m super angry, so watch out.’”

Police escorted several concerned employees to their vehicles.

Officers contacted Morford, who said “I would never really do that” regarding the threats she made and tried to downplay the significance of the call.

She was arrested and booked into jail on one count of threat of terrorism, which is a second-degree felony.

I guess that is how they roll in the Mormon state.
