I'm not a tequila or rum drinker but want to have the ability to serve margaritas and mojitos without all the fuss and bother of mixing them from scratch.

I've done some interwebs looking around and these two keep popping up. Hence my query here.

Both come in 1.75 L jugs.
--Jose Cuervo Golden Margarita cocktail
--Bacardi Classic Cocktail Mojito

Not much need for a mix for either a margarita or a mojito.
Both are straight forward drinks.

Margarita > tequila/triplesec/limejuice
Mojito > rum/simplesyrup/mint/clubsoda

YMMV Eek

Some mixes are better than others. Test them. If you order cocktails at anything but the highest end drinking joints, you get mixes.

But if you make them from scratch, the difference is obvious. Squeezing limes isn't that much work and well worth it to make a superior margarita.

I drink the Jose Cuervo one when we're up at our camper. Less fuss and muss.

I keep it in the freezer and shake it before pouring. Makes a nice slushy margarita.

Thanks ubelongoutside. Anyone else?

smschutz and jhe888, no doubt made from scratch is best but as said in my opening query, I do NOT want to have to buy the components, squeeze limes, crush mint leaves, et cetera ad nauseum which is why I'm asking about premixed. Interesting about all but high end joints using premixes. Any idea what brands?

Wife and I use Jose Cuerva mix, Hornitos Silver tequila, and ice. We aren't big mix drink or tequila people, but we like thes. Actually drinking them right now haha. I believe my parents get the Costco pour-and-drink margaritas in a glass jar, they are okay. I wasn't a big fan of the Costco ones, much prefer the mix and a good tequila.

Here is a good margarita recipe ...
6oz Tequila
6oz Lite Beer
3oz White Table Wine
6oz of Limeade.

Just dump all that in a blender, add ice and enjoy.

These may work, you should be able to find them at the Ellsworth exchange:

Ron, just checked and then have high fructose corn syrup which I really don't like. Appreciate the thought though. Smile

We use Cabo Wabo reposado or silver and Tres Agave organic margarita mix. It is 2 Oz. of Tequila and 3 Oz. of Tres Agave a twist of lime and you are good to go. Usually find it at Meijer or Kroger. It also does great with Patron. I also like the Patron Perfect margarita which uses Patron Citronege, Patron and orange juice. I think the silver makes better margaritas but my wife thinks the reposado and the anejo's make them better. Neither of us is really wrong.

Yeah, I used to have a couple of guns.

Saw this stuff along with others like Powell & Mahoney mix. Just add tequila. Interesting. Smile

Margarita (and Mary) mix: Doc Swami and Bone Daddy brand. Just add Patron (or whatever tequila you like).

Mojitos - I think made from scratch w/ fresh ingredients is really the only way to go.

This is my favorite margarita mix for parties. Add a slice of lime.

I have made them with frozen limeade for a mix. I don't know the proportions, but limeade, tequila, triple sec, and I usually add a little simple syrup as the frozen limeade is very tart.

Here's my "easy margarita" recipe:

Into a shaker, pour

- 4 oz. Tequila (brand doesn't matter too much, I usually use the lighter tasting cheap stuff like Aristocrat, I save the good Tequila for sipping)
- splash of Agave nectar
- 4 oz. Nellie and Joe's Key Lime juice (this brand is required)
- top off with 50/50 mix of Cuervo regular Margarita mix and Cuervo light Margarite mix)

Shake well and pour over ice-filled Margarits glasses, garnish with lime wedge or slice.

WRT the Cuervo mixes, I find the regular a little too sweet, and the light a little too "chemically." Marrying them seems to cut both bad flavors. I have substituted other commercial mixes (Master of Mixes, Cuervo Mango) for the regular without significant loss of drinkability.

I know you said mix but this easy and I’ve never had anyone not like it. Usually they convert to this from what they were using.

Can of limeade
Fill can once with preferred tequila
Fill can once with sprite
One bottle of corona

Dump all into a pitcher and stir. Excellent. I usually do on the rocks but you can freeze to a slushy or blend in blender with ice.

Enjoy.

I haven't found a premade mix for a mojito that tastes as good as making one from scratch.

However, we did find a mix for margaritas that I really like at Target: Tres Agaves Organic Margarita Mix. That stuff is good Big Grin

Trader Joes has a really good margarita mix. You do need to supply the alcohol.

Margaritas and mojitos are so easy to make from scratch and you’ll never find a mix that tastes as good. However, I may cheat for a daiquiri or pina colada with Bacardi frozen mixes. Find them in the frozen juice section of a super market.

I’ll be doing mojitos shortly Big Grin
