If you see me running try to keep up |
Just wondering since I cannot understand why pro 2A people continue to use blatantly anti gun companies. PP has been known to confiscate accounts that violate their terms and I know of people who didn't violate their terms (selling firearm accessories like mags) and still had their accounts seized. Yet in the classifieds here and on other forums I still see people asking for "discrete PayPal" or PP friends and familu as payment. BTW, they are not your friend nor are they family. I quit them long ago and it was an ordeal to close my account. They obviously make it hard to do. I suppose 2A people still use them out of sheer laziness. I try not to patronize any anti 2A companies as much as possible. So let her rip, why are you still using PP? I guess its like that old girlfriend you had that hated you and used to abuse you. You stayed with her for the one or two useful things and tried to forget about the abuse that came with it.

I made it so far, now I'll go for more |
Yes, because it's safe. Bob I am no expert, but think I am sometimes.

How is it safe when PP can confiscate your money any time they like? BTW, you agreed to allow them to do that in their terms.

I tend to use it if the vendor I'm dealing with at the time of purchase offers it so that I can limit the exposure of my credit card. John "Building a wall will violate the rights of millions of illegals." [Nancy Pelosi]

Not if I can help it. On the few occasions where it’s necessary, I use my wife’s account.

I used Pay Pal once a few years back. In less than 1 week I received a message from American Express stating someone tried to use my account to buy gift cards in another state. I called Pay Pal and told them to "pound sand" (being nice about what I really told them) they are NOT safe.

Ignored facts still exist |
about 10 to 20 years ago there was a group starting a 2A friendly alternative called gunpal or something similar. whatever happened to them?? .

I’ve bought a lot of 2A things and used PP. Frankly, they haven’t shut all purchases down. So, If I use them to further advance the 2A experience, I don’t see an issue.

I rarely use it, but safety is relative. Sure, they can do that, but even with that risk it's almost infinitely safer than any other way of transacting business online. They are frequently your only recourse against scammers, and scammers are unfortunately more common than legitimate sellers in many communities. Many are obviously scammers who are easy to avoid, but some of them are professionals and they're really, really good at it. Paypal will get you your money back when no one else can. "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I still use PP, not a favorite but sometimes it's necessary. I won't use F&F, it's cheating PP and you have no sales protection. In fact, I've sold many higher end knives in the last year, taking only personal check or bank transfer. ________________________________ "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

On occasion but I don't really sell anything, just to pay a bill out of convenience. If you are heavy into 2A transactions, I would use something else.

Used it just last night, to reimburse someone postage for some items that he gifted me. I just added Venmo, which is owned by PayPal. Just another method of electronic payment.

I have other hobbies other than 2A related ones - MANY vendors only take PP (or CC with PP) or you call them - give them your credit card and they run it through PP. I keep it for use with those vendors because there are no other options to find these products in many cases. I don't like it, but I like the other option (not participating in my other hobbies) even less. If I boycotted every single business where I disagreed with their politics I'd be limited to what I could grow on my own piece of land. Its a sad state of affairs, but it's the reality. I'd rather not use PP, but I'll hold my nose and do it when it's the only option. I reject your reality and substitute my own. --Adam Savage, MythBusters

I use PP for eBay purchases. I unlock my non PP credit card as needed to pay and lock once the payment is processed. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. Many online businesses run their credit through paypal even if you don't personally use paypal. For my business I use Stripe. Unfortunately, they've also been anti-2A. I don't have any other choices. I also can't forget what happened with a pro-2A payment processor, what was it? Gunpal or Gunpay or something like that? What a load of barnacles that was.

Yep. For business transactions, they're a credit card processor like any of the dozen or so other options.

Get my pies outta the oven! |
Only once in a great while. Seems like Venmo has taken over for a lot of people and "Can I Venmo you" or "I'll Venmo you" has become a part of the lexicon. I've used Venmo way more in the past few years than PP.
I thought eBay got rid of using PP and came up with their own payment system???

I'm much the same way; not everything in my life is about 2A stuff. Yet it's ironic that I've bought gun stuff on eBay and PP in those instances didn't bat/batt(?) an eye, though they and eBay are so closely tied at the hip that their buddy-buddy relationship must have something to do with that. PP has become one of those necessary evils when it comes to getting things done. I've done a fair amount of transactions using PP over the decades and have had few if any issues with them. Parties on the other end...well that on infrequent occasions has been another issue entirely. And PP in general has (more or less) been fair in resolving transaction disputes. -MG
