35° in N Houston, slowly dropping. As long as we don't lose power, should be ok. Not projected sub-freezing until 2am. The Enemy's gate is down.

I’m about an hour north of Atl. So far it’s starting to look like we might get a little lucky and get much less than predicted a day or so ago. Should have a good idea in the morning. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Montana here, sitting at 10F, high of 24F today..wishing for 20ft of snow so we don't have a fire season. Ice fishing for some kokanee, recipe to follow For ya non brown fat layered southern folks, don't die, I still want to get invited to a cookout. _____________________________ Off finding Galt's Gulch

Pretty much bypassed us here in NW Atlanta. (Kennesaw, Woodstock, Holly Springs,Canton) We have some ice, but the roads are good here. The winds are heavy enough to shake it out of the trees and off the power lines. I do have some coating the steps and where the precipitation was blown onto the cars under the carport. ____________________________ Eeewwww, don't touch it! Here, poke at it with this stick.

One of the good things about South Texas - no extreme cold weather and no snow to speak of. We can handle hurricanes just fine. We can also handle 100 plus degrees and a drought. Cold weather we do not do so well at since we usually do not get it here. This year has been particularly dry so I am grateful for the 1” of rain I have gotten since yesterday. We are currently at 34 and will get below freezing tonight. With all the rain we have had there may be some road issues later tonight.

Good morning. Sending my best to everyone, especially those in the South. Up here the snow started about 0700 (EST) and we are supposed to get up to 24" (all snow and no ice). I've got a nice fire going, coffee brewed and nowhere to go today. Truck is gassed up. I have several elderly neighbors, a couple of friends and in-laws in their 90's that I'll be checking on and assisting as needed but we've got this. We have a pretty good network in place. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

Dispatches from Atlanta (thread from 1/10/25) "Snowmageddon" is turning out to be a bust, barely even a dusting. Might get some more today, but is more likely to be rain, or a mix. "The Almighty, He put some livin' things on this earth so a man can eat." - Festus Haggen, Gunsmoke

I'm near Amicalola Falls, we have maybe 1/4 ice on everything here. Just enough to be annoying so far. He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

We have about 8” thus far and it’s supposed to stop around 3pm today. We’re all snuggled up and ready to enjoy a lazy day. Hope the same for all of you!

gray crack of dawn and 19 degrees here in 75570. Traffic is still moving on I-30...Sparse and slow, but moving. "Stuff" was falling off and on all night. I ventured out for a bit yesterday and made a drag through town. Lots of businesses closed, but several open as well. I haven't lost power yet. But the generator is gassed and ready, as are the vehicles. Got some out of power friends coming over later for hot showers and maybe a meal. Cows have extra hay and cubes. I will check ponds for ice after full daylight.

Same here. I thought it was a foot, but I didn't measure. It's pretty much snow. Enjoy! PS> My 4Runner is ready to go... if need be but I'll be making a fire and watching football. I don't think I have to go anywhere. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

We're sitting at 31° Light precip overnight, bit of ice on the cars & the valleys of the roof. Water on the sidewalk & driveway, still liquid. So far, this is far preferable to the 2021 freeze and the snow of January '25 The Enemy's gate is down.

A balmy 22 here in the hills. Some ice and sleet everywhere but no, nothing near the 21 storm. Supposed to get to 35 today, and the sun is coming out.

Best wishes to all those affected. It's 73 and overcast in SWFL currently. I talked to my son and he's expecting a couple more feet of snow back home. I almost feel guilty for moving but I'll get over it.

So for, I got lucky in my little microclimate between two rivers. Thunderstorms were rocking and rolling at 2:30 and 4:30 AM but the temperature was between 33 and 34 degrees. We've had 4.5" of rain in the last 36 hours so a couple degrees colder and it could've been ugly. This morning it dipped below freezing at about 8:15 AM, but the rain had been stopped for 2 hours at that point. Should get above freezing at 11 AM and stay there past sunset. Hopefully with high winds and no more rain we dry out before it hits 23 over night. Church got cancelled this morning. We've got about 5" of snow and still falling. I'll probably head out and plow the driveway in a bit if I can get the garden tractor to start (it hates the cold). My buddy who's working today told me some drunk Amish kid took out a power pole and knocked out power to most of the NW corner of the county this morning...good thing most of them don't use electricity up that way anyway. There's no widespread outages so I'm sure the power company got on it pretty quick....miserable day to be doing that kind of work, though. It's warmed up to 8 degrees outside. Still plenty of wood on the pile, and it's warm and toasty by the fire. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

Still have a few more hours of snow left here, but looks like we're going to end up with a total of about 12 inches of snow with one or two tenths of an inch of ice. No power outages here, and the main roads are treacherous but passable if necessary. Road conditions will likely end up a bit worse tomorrow, as the temp dips below zero overnight. Won't be above freezing until Tuesday afternoon, so will likely see some road impacts through Wednesday. Schools are already canceling for tomorrow, and I suspect they'll be closed Tuesday too. Thankfully it will be cleared up before my next patrol shift.

You’re probably right about the foot of snow. I did a super quick shoveling of our patio to make a path for the dogs at 6:30am. I did not measure then but will after it stops and I get the snow blower fired up. Enjoy your fire!
