We've had a 2019 Passport Elite since May of 2019 and love it. My wife didn't want three rows but she hauls dogs around every day so a CR-V was too small. I always notice how solid and quick it feels coming from a F-150. It's amazing on gravel roads and she gets noticeably better mileage than the Highlander we had before. It had one recall for something in the dash software but has otherwise been problem free. We look forward to many more years with this Honda. Add me to the list of those who are very happy with my 2019 Passport Elite. I have 19,000 miles with a mixture of city and highway driving. The tech works great, I’ve had no problems, and its the perfect size for me since Ive never used the third row seats in my previous SUVs (Acura MDX x 3). I would definitely buy it again.

given all the favorable remarks about the elite I think I wil revisit the AWD vs FWD thinking

The Passport uses the same 3.5 L V-6 used by the Pilot and the Odyssey. We've had two older Odysseys with the same engine. Compared with the CR-V which to us seemed clunky and slow, that's never been a problem with the Odyssey. Did you by chance look at the Kia Telluride as an alternative? If I were looking for a family SUV, I would definitely cross-shop the Telluride. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I know you already discounting the RAV4 so this comment is for anyone in this market segment. My only legitimate complaint about the RAV4 (other than the dealership of mine not fixing a warranty item lol) is that at 202 hp, it is noticeably under powered. The RAV4 needs an injection of power. Bigger output 4 or straight up 6. Combine that with the taco like styling and it becomes a segment killer, which it already kind of is.

the rav4 was the first thing i test drove and as much as i wanted to like it the motor underwhelmed me. want something with more punch and also the noise under full throttle put me off.also prefer something a little larger

Ive never had mine off road, but the AWD is much more stable in bad weather, particularly torrential rains like we get in Florida.

I know you want the Passport but do look at Pilots. When the Passport first came out I looked at it very hard. At that time they would not do any dealing on them. I did get the Pilot in same trim level and saved $4500. We did not need the third row seating so I just put them down and never looked back. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, I have considered that. Mind if ask what trim you ended up buying. The pricing advantage seems to be lost on the touring. I also like the angle of entry and departure more on the passport because of the shorter body and height. One thing I did notice is one can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the pilot but not the passport. I would like that capability. Also did you go AWD or FWD?

My wife is due for new vehicle this year, and her list is basically identical to yours other than the fact she wants AWD. She currently drives an Acura, and her parents have a Ridgeline. I immediately identified the Passport as a winner as we have no need or want for a 3rd row, and she prefers the sportier offerings. We test drove the top model, and everything was "fine". Not exciting, just "fine". Ended up seeing the new Blazer at the auto show, and was very intrigued. Took her to drive it, and she giggled the whole time while burning the tires off the thing! It has all the features she's looking for (360 camera being a big one) plus some features she didn't even know she wanted. Plus, it's FUN! I daily drive a newer Colorado Z71 so she's already used to how simple the infotainment is to operate vs the Honda, and we also have a 2018 Camaro ZL1 so the interior style isn't foreign to her. We'll be picking up a loaded 2021 Blazer RS AWD toward the end of this year barring any strange calamity. ![]() IDPA ESP SS

I have the EX-L. It had the features we wanted but most of all the motor. That level has the Japanese engine that has been around awhile and has the bugs worked out. I had read about the other engine they were putting in the higher trim levels from Germany which I had seen some bad reports on. Mine is AWD and here in the U.P. works great. Good luck with the search

Can someone explain the appeal of 360 cameras? One dealer showed me and I guess you can pull up real close to wall when parking but otherwise I missed the big deal. I’m sure I’m just missing it because others seem very excited about this feature.

I have the 360 in my F-150. It is handy for parking in that sometimes it's hard to see where the white lines are in a larger SUV. I end up opening a door to see if I'm over to far one way or another. I don't call it a game changer - just a nice feature. I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings when I called you stupid - I thought you already knew - Unknown ................................... with the 360 degree camera I can maneuver in and around tight places better and easier than I can with backup cameras, mirrors and parking sensors

Ok. So a good parking feature. I can see some value in that. Not sure I would pay a repair bill to fix one but a nice feature potentially.

Read the Maintainance guide. Timing belt replacement is 7 years or 100,000 miles. Sooner in hot climates

Haha, in college I burned my leg really badly on the big chrome tailpipe of my roommate's Passport. Good times. ...that I will support and defend...

well, tomorrow I am finally going to complete the paperwork on a new 2021 passport touring AWD. Ended up going AWD as opposed to the FWD based on some of the comments here as well as a realization I will be spending more and more time in the Pacific NW at our second home which will some day probably become our primary. Black on black. Vehicle is in transit and should be here in about two weeks.
