His low pay is to see if they have the desire to learn, that is not all they will make. He uses that to weed people out and so far it is working. If people are not smart enough to realize the once in a lifetime opportunity he is offering then they probably are not smart enough to run the business.

You won’t learn a trade at Sheetz. Not one comparable to building cabinets. But $15-$18 an hour pays the bills. Even if the carrot at the end of the stick is huge, not many people will be able to survive on $11 an hour.

The quality of employee you will get at $11 an hour doesn’t even exist. The bottom of the barrel go to fast food for $15.

Construction laborers here in Central AZ start at $18. No skill. Learn to frame houses. $18 and learn a trade.

If you have a strong stomach and want to get into the mind set of some these people go have a look here.

I love the threads where they yearn to be on the clock while commuting and have their employer pay for their car maintenance. Based on what I have seen there I should have solid employment until I retire Big Grin

That’s the one I was talking about!

The entertainment value of that is off the charts

One I saw last night: “do you think I can call off tomorrow morning because my car needs an oil change?”

LMAO!!!

So far he’s had to fire everyone - none want to work and learn. If I were younger I’d kill for that opportunity, where else can you get trained in a craft and have an established business handed to you? Yet the young men today can’t handle the minimal requirements.

Around here if you aren't at at least $15-20 an hour with a healthy sign on bonus you're not even going to get looks. Tell your friend to look at prevailing salaries, they're probably higher than he thinks. It doesn't matter what the potential benefits are maybe sometime down the road, people have to live now. $11 an hour is only going to attract the people who can't hack it literally anywhere else on the planet.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Who's got the funds to try and survive for 2, 3, 5 years at pay less than a fast food worker? Especially since fast food restaurants now offer education assistance and other benefits.

You could start as a tradesman's apprentice for 50% more pay.

*Maybe with a written contract that spells out how/when the ownership will transfer.

My last job you had to have your cell phone turned off and it had to be off your body (Federal Law).

Surprising how many couldn't go 60 to 90 minutes without it. Rule was abused all the time, either with a Smart Watch or just plain using it. Union would always get the employees off. They would get suspended, the Union would fight it and get them reinstated WITH back pay.

It is all fun and games until someone get killed .

Unions are about the worst thing out there at this time. I don't put up with them or their B.S.

At one time, they were necessary, but that time is long gone.
