I am a hardcore fan of chromoly framed bikes. I suppose my dirt jumping days on a BMX bike (which resulted in two back surgeries) radicalized me towards 4130 chromoly. Around 2020 I fell back in love with biking BIG TIME. But something was missing, as much as I like a carbon and aluminum alloy frame full suspension bikes they just don’t do it for me nearly as much as a hand made chromoly hardtail. I even tried riding a few BMX bikes with their tiny 20 inch tires and small, knee punishing frames. They were fun, nostalgic and a hell of a workout on the rolling hills of my 800+ house neighborhood. But I out grew them. I believe my quest for the “perfect” do anything bike (with an emphasis on dirt jumping) is now over. The nice thing is it didn’t cost me a dime out of pocket but I did have to sell three bikes in my vast collection of bicycles.  It was worth it.  Interesting logo too  I love the “raw” finish with its clear coat over raw chromoly steel that showcases the heat marks from the welding process.  Hand made excellence  With the seat dropped (it has a 150mm dropper seat post) it looks a lot like a stretched BMX bike with a hell of a front suspension (160mm travel) and quite a slack head angle.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance | ||

Yes, a very nice bike. Not all that unlike the one I bought a couple years ago, and try to ride daily. We have a nice bike trail that runs along route 234 here in the Manassas area. Trying to get back up to my 12 miles a day. But given that I am 84, that may be a forlorn hope/dream. Yeah, this one is going to stay more or less as it is now. It definitely won’t be a modded onto an e-bike. My son has requested I design and build him a “convertible front wheel drive” ebike conversion for his current mountain bike. He wants to be able to undo the conversion quickly and easily so he can ride trails normally when he wants to do that. I believe a separate dedicated ebike fork/front end with a basket to hold the battery would make such a request possible. For the time being my main task is to figure out how to convert this bike over to front wheel drive electric and be able to quickly & easily convert it back to normal. I sourced a used Marin fork off the fleabay similar to the one on my current ebike with mounts for a front basket. My current ebike is torn apart and undergoing a brake upgrade so those two projects will keep me plenty busy on the electric bike front for the foreseeable future.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The price of liberty and even of common humanity is eternal vigilance | |||

You could get another front wheel that has an e-hub laced into it, and park the battery on one of those Topeak slider rear rack. Then, when your son wants to changed it back, all he'd have to do is slide the battery off the rack, and switch out the front wheels. I found what you said riveting. | |||

Badass. It’s a great looking bike. I’ve waiting to get the wrist fully healed, and the broken foot, and the broken vertebrae in the back healed… then I can’t wait to ride again. BTW Stickman, don’t get old. I’m like a 70’s Vega (kinda like the wooly mammoth(if you’re into drag racing you know what I’m talking about)). Shit is just falling apart. The “lol” thread | |||

She is rock solid! I’m used to my Marin Pine Mountain and it’s pencil thin chainstay and seatstay that flexes a bit. This baby has chainstay and seatstay tubes that are easily twice the size and they don’t flex at all. It’s about as rigid in the rear as my old 4130 Chromoly loop tail Mongoose Expert. That is a good idea. It was my original plan but my son is adamant about not having a rear rack on the bike and having all the electric stuff easily removable because he loves the bike as it is now. I tried to sell him on converting another Marin Pine Mountain with a small or medium frame over to electric (we already have a spare Pine Mountain (small frame) that would work great but he loves the idea of a FWD electric kit he can use occasionally use and then easily swap back to its current configuration.
