I have a 2013 GMC Sierra truck with a 5.3 V-8 engine and 45,000 miles. Does anyone have a suggestion for a disabler for that engine that does not draw current when the engine is off and also might gain a mile or two higher gas mileage? There are hundreds of different ones of these for sale on the net but what is a good one which has these capabilities.

As I posted in the other thread:

"I use one in a 2009 GMC Z-71 Sierra with a 5.3L. I bought the truck used in 2018 with 152K miles. I put a Range Technologies AFM delete plug-in on it within a month of purchase. I now have 198K miles with no issues using it.

I will say, every so often, the Check Engine Light (CEL) will appear after startup. I remove the AFM module, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Within 25 -30 seconds, the CEL turns off. On the RT website, I found that the OBD system in the truck treats anything plugged into the OBD port as a test device, and counts start cycles. After a certain number of those, the CEL illuminates as a "reminder" to remove the test device. Removing and re-installing the AFM delete module resets the start cycle count. A minor inconvenience, but no affects to the operation of the AFM delete module.

Good luck."

I don't have much experience on mileage gains while using it, but it does cut down oil consumption immensely between oil changes. But, I also don't drive like a race car driver, like a lot of folks do. I average around 18 MPG on interstate trips, while driving the speed limit or slightly less. Back and forth to work, 14 to 16 MPG, depending on stop and go traffic, as well as AC usage.

I have on 08 GMC with the 5.3 and I use the Range Technology device on my truck. It now always is in 8 cylinder mode and I have been happy with the results.

Black92LX, are the NGK plugs and AC Delco plug wires recommended for use with the Range device?

When I had my 2012 Chevy, I bought a Superchips tuner that let's you disable the AFM system and make other adjustments if you want.

No. NGK and Delco are just the best ones that are offered.
I traded our Suburban before installing them and and we had the Range plugged in for like 7 years. All just sitting in the shelf doing nothing figured he way want them as they should be the same needed for his Sierra.
