I watched a video about what happens to feet after the age of 60. So, now I'm looking for the ultimate footwear. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Don’t you just do a little research for the type of activity, then try on a handful?

If the fit isn’t as I prefer, I often make up part of the difference with inserts, and/or sock thickness.

I suggest you purchase hand made shoes, the kind Prince William wears. You can have them resoled several times. Italian leather is nice. Here:

Yes, perhaps he can sell one of his yachts to fund the purchase.

If I understand "'ultimate' footwear" correctly, I don't think anything short of being individually hand-made and fitted to your feet fits that bill. There are customized insoles you can buy. I have no experience with any of them so will not make an endorsement.

So what's supposed to happen to your feet after age 60?

I think you need to define “ultimate footwear” for people to be able to help you. It’s like saying “ultimate bed” the ultimate bed for someone else can be too soft or too hard for you.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Not sure what can be done to help online, really. He asked, "Where Can I Find Shoes Designed Specifically For My Feet?". As mentioned already, he is going to have to go to a place that will custom make shoes specifically for him, not some other Joe.

You are probably better off going to a Good Feet store and get your feet mapped for inerts/insoles.

I went to Fleet Meet, they mapped my feet and created me custom insoles and they gave me specific models that sold that would be best for me.
This is for walking/running style shoes. I am sure somewhere does the same with boots.

Looking at those very custom shoe sites, can’t help but think I could buy 5+ pair of regular shoes before I get to their price.

To me, fit matters more if I plan to walk a lot, or maybe even stand a good bit. When not planning much walking, care less.

Case in point, I have some very warm boots I use for snowmobiling & limited hunting. They are very warm, not the best for walking. Unless the snowmobile breaks down, don’t plan on walking much. I can thumb a ride.

For certain hunting, IL, it’s to the stand, very limited walking. Now for grouse & such, I have some very comfortable LL Bean ‘upland’ boots, older, but great for extended walking.

I was in Bozeman, MT a few years ago, thought I may treat myself to some Schnee’s boots, made in MT, most. I went in the store, kinda busy. When I saw it would take $500 to get started, I decided the Danners I already had was enough. I let the shoppers from CA have at it.

I think having the right shoes is important, don’t need to be custom. I’m diabetic and wasn’t diagnosed until there was nerve damage already in my feet. Some socks and shoes make it feel like my pinky toes are on fire from being rubbed raw and then if I pull the shoes and socks off, there’s nothing there. Now I wear mostly Lems and toe socks. They are made for the barefoot folks, but I wear them because my feet don’t hurt.

Your post title answers your question. “Shoes designed specifically for your feet” only come from custom boot and shoe makers. 2000Z-71 posted a link for Whites, I’ve got two pairs, Packers and brogans (heavy duty, semi-dress, bullhide, top-of-the-ankle height). I followed the link provided. Wow, spendy. Everything is relative, I guess they always have been.

I felt forced into custom. My foot is narrow, and hard to fit. Years ago I could “custom order” from many boot makers and get boots that fit me well (assuming the last suited me as well). Boot makers have stopped building a selection of widths, “D” is standard and “EE” is available.

I can still find dressy shoes that serve me since I don’t wear them often. Boots, I have Wilson’s, Paul Bond, the previously mentioned Whites, and a pairs of M.L. Leddy. Good luck finding what you want. If possible, when you decide where you want them built, go there to be measured and look at leather samples, rather than sending in a tracing of your foot.

True custom shoemakers are scarce and even the Austin Hall boots I had custom made are no longer available.

I went with custom orthotic shoe inserts. The podiatrist took xrays and measurements and they're so comfortable I wear them all the time.

Red Wing boot stores now offer the same in store. Dunno if they're as good as the Rx but they are half the price.

Well, unless he wants two pairs.

I think most populous cities have a custom shoe/boot maker or two, the trick is finding them since their prices don't lend themselves to large volume. Perhaps the fashion reporter for your local bird cage liner might have a clue. If all else fails, maybe a trip to London or Milan where you can also pick up a nice dinner jacket to have just in case you ever get an invite to Buckingham Palace.
