The year a man jumped into the Burning Man flames and himself became a burning man, I posted the story here. There was a Sigforum member, but I can't remember his name, that revealed he was a "Burner".

I thought at the time this is like a cult religion. I wonder if that guy is there this year?

Here it is: Appliance Brad is the burner.

Good, bad or indifferent, I avoid these large gatherings like the plague. Things can turn ugly pretty quickly.

This is what Day 3 will look like; once they are out of tofu, makeup, hygiene and hair products:

Things I read this morning- one person is dead, cause is not released so far. Other reports of thievery among the attendees for food and water. And comedian Chris Rock reported that as of yesterday AM, all of the Porti Potties were filled to capacity, with no service relief in sight. I'm guessing that was when he said "fuck this shit " and with another celebrity friend, actually hiked over 5 miles in mud to get to a highway. A small number of others did the same, one describing it as "walking for miles with cinderblocks on your feet".

I heard from another weather source Burning Man experienced a little over an inch of rain.

But then so did Las Vegas, and look what happened this weekend, had no idea until this morning. And more rain is forecast for Burning Man today, 85% chance, and overnight temps into the 40s.

My wife’s step brother is there and posted on FB that he’s fine. Stocked with supplies and beer. Lots of mud though. For the ill prepared, it will be miserable but likely not deadly.

Wonder how many there figured out they are hanging out in a sewage pit from 60,000+ people.

Early Burning Man was the ultimate Libertarian fantasy, predictably Leftists also attended but, everything was allowed, the motto was truly Radical Self-Reliance. Guns, explosives, outrageous art work, Mad Max-dystopian themed attire, orgies, drug tents, all-night concerts, it was all there. Water was a precious commodity and bartering-only for goods.

Today, like Glastonberry its grown exponentially and become a money-making extravaganza full of rules and an administrative and security apparatus. There's designated spaces to camp, full-service catered operations for the wealthy, fencing and security, and no firearms or, explosives, Feds patrolling for environmental damage and attempting to keep an eye on the creeps. People get run-over by some 'art vehicle' is not uncommon resulting in major medical emergencies. AAA has a couple of garages worth of trucks driving around jumping vehicles and proving tows. Crime is just as common as any big city, theft and sexual assault is not unusual unfortunately.
