Was sitting and watching Netflix this past Friday night when all of sudden my right hand quit working. When my wife asked what was wrong and I tried to answer, nothing but mumbling would come out!

This is a journey I wasn’t prepared for, but I have no choice now. No idea how long I will be in the hospital, but hopefully home soon as this is pure misery!

Sorry to hear that.

Given your ability to communicate, I assume you've regained at least some function?

My wife had one on March 27, been doing Rehab .
Hers was a bad one on Right side.
She is recovering very well and has gained alot of movement.
Dr. Told her 6 months and she should be alot better.
From what it looks like you have to reprogramming brain to function.
It is working just keep up the rehab.
Look on the bright side you are still with us.

Darn Bill, at least you were there with your wife to get you to help. Hoping for a quick and complete recovery!

Geez, BB, real sorry to hear this.

I had a Branch Retina Artery Occlusion about a year ago. Ophthalmologist was exceedingly concerned, after diagnosing that, and had me admitted to a hospital for an immediate stroke evaluation.

They cleared me, but still...

Sorry to hear that. What I learned from mine.
-your emotions will be messed up (doctor didn’t tell me that) I get angry easy and cry at things that never bothered me before
-it will take up to a year for your brain to try and reprogram itself to work around the damaged area
-being overwhelming tired is an effect and it’s your brain working on getting you back to par
-you may trip or have issues with the right side leg and hand
-you may have some kind of “seizure” up to two years after the stroke (mine looked like I was having another stroke-same symptoms)

There’s more but I can’t think of them right now

I hope they find what caused it. Mine was from a torn artery. It healed and my risk for another is down to almost nil.
