Our place on base backs up to some woods and the ticks are insane, finding 2-3 a day. Y’all use flea and tick killer in the yard or some other trick? 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

I’ve used bifen i/t with great success with many pests over the years. Never ticks but according to the label it covers ticks. I mix it in a backpack pump sprayer and then apply.

I forget, is it the third or fourth post where we say, "Nuke them from orbit!"? We spray ourselves when we are in tick areas. The dog gets a topical flea and tick treatment.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Our dogs get flea and tick treatment for a few months in the spring. We live in a rural area now and they don't have much contact with other dogs. I live in a wooded area now and fleas don't seem to be a problem like they were in suburbia when the seemed to be in the lawns and nearby pets. Once we get into the hotter summer months, the ticks seem to fade away until the next spring so it's about three months of treatments. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Diatomaceous earth, last year was bad for ticks. I would find at least two, if not a half dozen. After a lot of reading, I was looking for something safe with my fur baby. A bought two 25lbs. bags, spread it around the yard, especially in the shaded areas. It got rid of the ticks! Get food grade. It will take a few days to kill the ticks, and you might have to reapply, but it is safe for you, kids, pets. ARman

I've heard that's good for controlling ants, too. God bless America.

Diatomaceous earth... for the win. It is great for anything insect like and the such and safe for our furry friends.

I’m on post in a neighborhood. Love me some chickens but I doubt they are allowed on post. I’ll check into the DE stuff and start attacking these little AHoles. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Bifen works pretty good for me. Ticks, chiggers, and some effect on flies and mosquitoes. About every 6 weeks plus two or three days before the occasional cookout or etc where guest will be loitering on the lawn. Spray around the house foundation bushes, eves windows etc at the same time because it gets the spiders and wasp as well. Collecting dust.

Another Bifen I/T. If you can’t find that, the main ingredient is bifenthrin, I usually get it at tractor supply. I use it inside and out. Kills everything insect or insect type creatures. Bifen is ineffective. Permethrin works. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

I second this. Good for ants, fleas, ticks, yellow jackets, and other nasty bugs that live on or in the ground. Sprinkle liberally all over the yard, sprinkle it on carpets, upholstery, bedding, and rub into pet coats. I used it to take care of a flea problem when the flea control products didn't work. Reapply after a rain. You can get it at a nursery, at Home Depot, and many other places. I get food grade. __________________________ More blessed than I deserve. http://davesphotography7055.zenfolio.com/f238091154

If you have cats be careful with bifenthrin. Their liver lacks an enzyme and can’t process the chemical.

Is it? That’s what keeps getting suggested to me by my supplier. I’ve only a few customers that request an alternative to imidicloprid. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mark123,
