Japanese billionaire to be the first tourist to orbit the Moon.
quote:
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa signed with SpaceX to fly around the moon on the company's next generation rocket, CEO Elon Musk announced on Monday.

Maezawa will attempt to be the first to return to the moon in nearly half a century, launching aboard a Big Falcon Rocket (BFR), which SpaceX is developing. BFR is the flagship for Musk's vision of creating a permanent, self-sustaining human presence on Mars, and testing on the behemoth rocket is expected to begin next year.

The trip is expected to be launched in 2023.

Article...

I'd love to go, but only if I can walk around on the Moon and fuck around for a while.

This is good. We are that much closer to recreational space travel. Yeah, a moon landing would be better but this is progress in the right direction.

How un-American. A FIRST trip like this, by an American company, should be by an American. Japanese asshole can take the second ride.

Fuck you Musk!

You do realize that the founder of SpaceX is a South African Canadian American right?

Just watched Musk talk about it on the news. The guy gave significant upfront money to assist with “development” and they hope to begin testing next year.

Musks silver tongue got him a bunch more cash to use before a product is ready....

Yes indeed, but that happens ALL the time in business.

The Falcon 9 was built using lots of .GOV money to supply the ISS with cargo and people.

The Falcon Heavy used the 9 but cost SpaceX a lot before they pivoted to the BFR.

So the cash has to come from somewhere and thankfully there are rich people who like space, otherwise we'd still be sitting here on our asses after 50 years of landing US Astronauts on the Moon.

If an American would norlt step up, why get all hissy that somebody else did?

At least SOMEBODY is going. Only about 16 men have ever visited the moon. It's high time we bump those numbers up. . .
