Seeing that the FCC has signaled that a proposed merger of Sprint and T-Mobile will be approved soon.

So...does combining two shitty carriers make one bigger, better one or will it make as I predict just a bigger turd? Big Grin

For a company that "sucks" they're doing awfully damn well.

I can't knock Sprint, been with them since 2008. My only gripe is the independent reseller network.

It seemed to be that when immigrants from certain third world countries would arrive here they would get a party store and a Toyota Corolla upon entry. Now they get a Sprint store and a ten year old Escalade......and gold chains as a bonus.

The only reason I left T-mobile was because at the time their coverage did not include some areas that I have to travel to on occasion which are sites in rural locations. I switched over to Xfinity Mobile which runs on Verizon's network, so I now get coverage in those areas usually, if T-Mobile gets coverage similar to AT&T and Verizon then I would consider switching back if it's cost effective.

Sprint and T-Mobile coverage sucks in the ATL. The only reason I’ve stayed with AT&T is because their coverage is excellent. Especially after they absorbed BellSouth Mobility/Cingular years ago.

Never had T-Mobile but had sprint for several years and coverage was spotty in Dallas metroplex and had no service at all in the areas I hunted. Have AT&T now and can stream content at the ranch I hunt on.

For about a year and a half I worked in a GMC/Toyota dealership, late 1980's.

Best one I heard, guy walks in and asks for brake parts for his"Teeota Crayola".

Can you post a link supporting this assertion? I've been following this merger and the last indications I read were that the FTC was considering denial of the application, but nothing was a certainty yet.

I've had T-Mobile as my personal cellular carrier for upwards of 10 years and have been nothing but pleased with the relationship. I think you're painting with an unnecessarily wide brush.

I have carried around two phones, both similar iPhones, for the last five years, one each on T-Mobile and Verizon. Furthermore, I have driven all over this country while trucking, which is why I have needed both carriers.

From my extensive experience, T-Mobile has been improving tremendously, while Verizon has been languishing. I cannot think of anywhere that Verizon is working better. Also, my Verizon service is double the price of T-Mobile.

I don't know why you compare T-Mobile to Sears. TM has purchased a bunch of bandwidth which will only increase their network's capability. Now that I'm not on the road anymore, I'll be dropping my Verizon service and keeping T-Mobile.

No, T-mobile is the American branding of Deutsche Telekom. it's more like when InBev bought Budweiser.

I've been with Verizon for over a decade and the only reason is coverage for where I go. T-mobile will be getting my business at some point this summer as they are 1/3 less in cost and the coverage disparity is now negligible.

I'm pretty sure if these two do merge (which a corporate T employee says is inevitable) will only bring a stronger presence in the market.

cheers~

I saw it on Zero Hedge earlier today:

Sprint, T-Mobile Jump As FCC Signals Merger Approval

And I still assert that these two suck, Sprint appears to be in big financial trouble and was wanting this, they were my first cell phone carrier and I had no luck with them and it appears they've not gotten any better and T-Mobile around here stinks too.

Google is returning numerous hits on this - The FCC Chairman is indicating that he'll approve the merger.

I'm NO Fan of NPR, just tried to pick a clean link to post.... Wink

No kidding, I would switch to them in a heart beat but their coverage is a bit sketchy in my neck of the woods. As fast as they are improving their coverage I think it will be a very short period of time before they will be my carrier.

Just got and email last week from Sprint thru our business account. I wonder if this offer has anything to do with their roll out of 5 G

Sprint Magic Box is ready to work wonders for your business, at no cost to use. It's like having your own personal cell tower. It does the trick to put your data on the fast track, including:
• Faster working apps
• Average coverage of 30K square feet indoors
• More than 200% increase in average upload and download speeds

It is a free offer so I requested one.

Communications companies have been merging and acquiring competition since, forever... Confused

T-Mobile bought MetroPCS.
Sprint bought Nextel.
Verizon bought Alltel.
ATT bought Cingular.
And so on...

Regardless of what you think of T-Mobile, more than any other company, they've been responsible for keeping the price of cellular service (all carriers) from spiraling out of control. Isn't that the beauty of the free market?
