I went on a 1st aid call way back in the day…the husband of the lady we were treating was a retired Air Force pilot from the Luftwaffa. On the wall were a bunch of photos of f-104s. It was an interesting conversation waiting for the ambulance. None of Luke Air Force base was owned by the Germans at that or any other time. -------- After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box.

Even down here at Eglin we have Aussies. It's interesting to see them in their short pants. They can even fly their flag but it has to next to Old Glory and has to be lower than Old Glory. Beagle lives matter. ______ (\ / @\_____ / ( ) /O / ( )______/ ///_____/

While I was at Griffiss in the late 80s, we had uniformed Soviets on base. Went into the mess hall for lunch one day and saw these goofy looking uniforms with "CA" on the shoulder boards and wondered who are they? I looked it up some time later and got to wondering why Soviet Army troops would be on a SAC base. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. Idaho Air Force base will host a Qatari F-15 training unit Qatar will set up a facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho to train F-15 pilots. Secretary Hegseth had to clarify it will be on an existing, U.S.-controlled base, not a new separate Qatari one. by Nicholas Slayton Published Oct 10, 2025 4:02 PM EDT The Qatari Emeri Air Force will build a facility at on Idaho Air Base, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Friday. Qatar will station F-15s and pilots at the U.S. base, he said. Hgeseth announced the unit at the Pentagon with Qatari Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. Hegseth said that the United States signed a letter of acceptance to build a facility for Qatar’s air force at Mountain Home Air Force Base, which is about an hour south Boise. Qatari pilots will learn to fly F-15QAs with American crews. Though the plan drew initial shock and some anger from political pundits, plans for a Qatari detachment at Mountain Home date to at least 2022, according to the Idaho Statesman newspaper. And at least one other country has long trained its F-15 pilots at the base. Singapore has maintained a joint training unit with the 428th Fighter Squadron at Mountain Home since 2009... I did not read it on social media, I read it on 2 news sources, None of which were CNN or cnbc. In both sources the announcement was the US would be building a base near an existing US air force facility, not that they would allow training at a current base. Pardon me for asking a question without getting some of you upset.

Any deals with Catarrh are with their fingers crossed behind their back. But I suppose sometimes you have to deal with unsavory characters. I assume they are being trained only to a minimal level of competence, and that planes we sell them don't have the latest upgrades. Your thread title, “Can someone explain why we are giving Qatar an airbase in the United States”. Are you sure your 2 news sources said we are “giving” them “an airbase”? Or are those your words? Building a base does not translate into giving a base. And, I’ll go out on a limb and say that no one in this thread is upset. Q

What were the news sources? Exactly what was stated on these two news sources?

Show us your sources, as they say. Here's one I found:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/h...ility-us-base-idaho/ I also found a few others misconstruing it as a "Qatari base on US soil," which it is not. Mostly being pushed by loud, uninformed voices like Lara Loomer, et al, looking for rage-bait clicks. Looks like they got at least one.

"Seems this one is making the rounds." Seems the leftists are posting that crap everywhere. Trying to make it sound equivalent to when Biden ignored China buying large tracts of land and allowed easy cover for spying. We are training the military of country's that are now helping us so their personnel can do the work in that part of the world. We get to do less that way. In other words, actually using some common sense in our approach to the Middle East and elsewhere. The world is too big a place for us to do it alone. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

I heard that once that lead smelter closes, the UN will be putting gun owners into FEMA concentration camps. I mean, I saw it on Facebook, so it must be true. They're not allowed to put anything on Facebook that isn't true, provided you copied and pasted the following statement into your Facebook post: "I do not consent to allow Facebook to show me any information that is not true." (It apparently works on Twitter too, according to that one guy behind the counter at the gun store, and he seems trustworthy.)

Base inspections per treaty They came to my Army post in Germany around 1992-1993, just post USSR dissolution. All I remember is they came to our dining facility for breakfast one morning (I was an Army cook) and these mofos cleaned us out of every scrap of food. They REALLY liked American bacon.

That would be my guess too. Griffiss had 416BW with BUFFs and ALCMS, they were probably verifying treaty compliance. In 1988 and 89 we had Soviet inspectors at the Pueblo Army Depot to observe static firing Pershing II motors IAW the INF treaty. I heard they loved shopping at Kmart to bring home VCRs and other items that were scarce in the USSR.
