I know we have a couple on the forum. I am looking at a used one and there are several low mileage ones in the area(Chicago), any particular option that greatly enhance its fun. I have had a Couple of WRx/Sti and miss them, just don’t want to deal with the issues/dealerships around us. Any common issues to look for? Or would I be netter off going with a new core level one? Engine fires. Claims denied if there is any evidence in the telemetry that you drove it like a performance car. Check YouTube and enthusiast forums for more info.

That’s a little surprising from Toyota and sounds like the crap Subaru would pull. We sold our Miata a couple of months ago. We just weren’t driving it much but usually ride the motorcycles so looking for something a little more performance oriented. That’s clickbait garbage man. The G16 in this car, has been in the GR Yaris for years. Both “fires” were cars that were very questionably tuned. So it’s all BS. Valpo, used? You’ll be fine provided you can have it inspected and verified it was never modified, still has the OEM tune, etc. For 2026, premium and premium + only. Get the premium version no matter what so you get the suede seats (heated), heated steering wheel. I just put Vorshlag camber plates on my Circuit Edition and Ohlins RT’s, installed at Vorshlag. Had it laser aligned at BSP also. Went railing last weekend and the pogo nature of the stock dampers is history. The 2023/2024’s have the 30:70 mode. For 2025 Yota removed it. Either version has 60/40 and 50/50. ‘25’s came with some minor upgrades but nothing that can’t be done in the aftermarket. I like the 30/70 mode myself and go cornering in that primarily. When the missus is with me I go 50/50 so it doesn’t slide as much and make her nervous holding on for dear life. I owned a GSX AWD Turbo in the 90’s. A 2008 STi (GR/Hatch), and a 2017 Focus RS. The GRC is by far my favorite. Front and rear Torsen LSD’s, 6MT, and the G16 motor is a gem. It’s 1/2 a V6 and “lumpy” compared to your cookie cutter inline 4’s. I’ve pushed this thing as far as it will go and my only issue with it stock was the stock compression and rebound. Rebound was abysmal. Now that I have the suspension sorted, well I’ll add power down the line with intake, catted DP (gesi), new FMIC to remove heatsoak, and tune it within limits of the OEM clutch. It’s a fantastic platform that you will love. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

You should consider a Mk8 VW Golf R. Better manners and usability for a daily driver. It is much faster than the Toyota, with a much better interior.

There are a bunch of good comparisons for sure. https://m.youtube.com/results?...Vw+golf+vs+toyota+gr

I’ll second that statement. Have owned my ’24 R for about 6 months now, and it is a very good all-around car. Does all things very well. Would be an absolute track day weapon with minimal mods.

Not in the corners it isn’t. Straight line speed, sure. But neither of these cars are for stop light racing. The R has a nice interior and has a nice sound system. But the interior with the haptic buttons is a bit of a travesty. That interior was designed for their EV version, not a performance car. Haptic buttons and touch screen for everything is a major miss. VW no longer offers a 6MT either so driving engagement suffers for that. The car is also a bit vague, and disconnected. Road feel is very disconnected and the entire car feels a bit electronic. But it’s a hard thing to describe. You have to drive one versus relying on narrative videos online which never tell the tale. Many of these lame YT reviewers will be younger than you, and inexperienced. I’ve driven every R iteration of the Golf since the VR6. The GRC is a pure drivers car and there is a significant difference between them. I don’t think either makes a good daily driver due to the price of each. There are much better commuter cars on offer that are much lower in cost and have much better run costs and much better MPG. The GR86 (and BRZ) would also be something I would look at if looking at buying a drivers car. The premium trim with the Performance Package (Sachs dampers + Brembos) is $35k ($36k for 2026) is an amazing car. Po man’s Cayman. Has the handling of the Porsche, just not the straight line speed. Also makes for a good winter car with winter tires because it’s only 2800 pounds. I hope to pick one up before Toyota changes it full stop. The next iteration is likely to have an inline 4. It was supposed to be a full Toyota product but now the news out of JDM is it’ll be a partnership between Toyota and Madza instead of Subaru. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I have had 3 Miata’s ranging from modded suspensions to stock. 2 WRX’s and a pretty modded Sti. The Sti was a brutal car with after market subframes, frame connectors and coilovers, was right at 400hp. It was brutal and I loved it. It was one of my 3 favorite cars, the other 2 being a V8 Sunbird Formula and my 79 SS 454 Chevelle. I am really liking the GR. I need to see in in person. I had one, I loved it in the corners, but I wanted something a little faster and I was disappointed to spend $47k and have it still be a Corolla. If I could buy a used one this time non circuit I might buy one in the future. For now I'm loving my RS 5 which I would never recommend to anyone because it's my worst financial decision of my life. An high performance German car that's not cheap to run. Who could've guessed? All in jest, it's a sharp looking car. I'm more on the Stuttgart/Affalterbach [Mercedes/AMG] side of the German spectrum, than Bavaria/Ingolstadt. The Enemy's gate is down.
