I'm good for transport from the Chicago area east or I could drive south toward St Louis and then head east.

Sounds like time for a sig forum relay to get this dog to a new home

I can chip in for gas money

I'd be willing to chip in as well.

Jimmy...

Can't commit just yet. I need to know if he is good/tolerant of other dogs and good with children. Also, I would need a picture.

I have found out that the wife completed an application for a rescue here in Ohio 2 days ago for adoption (a 2-year old female redbone coonhound). We will not know if we will have to chance to get her for a day or 2.

Getting the female doesn't necessarily mean we won't want the lab, but it would make it harder (3 large dogs all around the same age).

If we get the info we need and the wife approves, then I will discuss with the wife how we would want to get the lab. I would hate to put people out moving the dog via an "SF relay", but it may be kinda cool.

Thanks for the offers so far.

Do you know this dog? What is his personality like? High energy? Laid back? Would he be OK alone in the house on some days (not every day), maybe six or eight hours, nothing but a demon cat for company?

I would hate to see him put down for lack of a home, but I do have some restrictions, including my age and physical limitations.

If you email me the pictures I will post them here on SF for you.

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I could meet SigM4 in the Memphis area and head towards Kentucky, probably in the general direction of Paducah. I'm traveling a lot over the next few weeks so I need to nail that down as quickly as possible but I can probably make it happen.

Same here, I don't get it either.

I guess that's why the saying is you can tell a lot about a person with how they treat their animals.

SigM4 has offered to post photos for me of Diesel the black lab. Here is the information I shared with him.

I headed out to Houston this morning and forgot my camera so we had to make do with a cell phone and getting Diesel to pose for a decent snapshot was impossible.
Here’s what I know about this black dog:
He was ready for a head pat as I was getting out of the car then he retired to a mat at the back door of the house. There was no boisterous barking threatening behavior.
My impression is that he is a laid back kind of dog dog that doesn’t have an exuberant demeanor. He’s probably been neglected or seen some abuse. He winches if you raise your hand quickly as if you were going to strike him.
He may be slightly under weight and since we were in such a hurry we failed to confirm whether he had been fixed.
We just don’t know much about this easy going dog. Do I think he has had proper care? No, I don’t. Would he make a hunter or guard dog? I suspect not. Do I think he’d make a devoted companion for some kids or an elderly person? Yes, I do.

If I need to, I will try to get better photos.

I’ve already responded to SigM4’s email and followed up with a phone call. Hopefully, he’ll be able to return the call soon.

Good looking boy and deserves a good home.

I can't take him in as we already have 3 Labs ourselves and that's the maximum allowed pets per city ordinance but I can assist in transport to Dallas if that is to take place.

I am able to pick him up in Houston this coming Saturday morning and drive him up to the DFW area and only need two things to do so: address where he's to be picked up and address/meeting sport for the drop off.

Email is in my profile, just let me know if it's needed.

Look at that face! I can’t take him as I have 2 labs, one with special needs.

I’m in with $100 towards transport. Someone needs to take this pup in. There is nothing like a Lab.

Brother, if you end up doing that The Pet Place (my store) will send you a big box of goodies for that pup.

Apologies for the 2nd post but I didn't want this to get lost in an edit to my first post.

If it comes down to him having to go to a shelter before he's been claimed, I'll foster the dog on a very temporary basis. Say maybe a month tops.

I really can't go any longer than that as if it's found we have more than 3 dogs, we get a warning from the city and have two weeks to comply with the ordinance.
