This is how 3rd world cesspools and ghettos become first world nations and prime living neighborhoods.

In case you haven't noticed there hasn't been much desire for people who want to join up to be cops. Its 90% paperwork and these days 0% fun. The spec ops guys are busy in Afghanistan and for some reason probably won't sign up to be the police either. This guy shows up to the briefing table I'm happy to have him. Its slim pickings and from what I have seen coming out of the academy these days we would be lucky to have him. Sure he ain't athletic. He knows it as well. He still showed up and tried. That tells me he gives way more of a shit that the rest of the people in his town. My only hopes would be that he knows his limitation and next time he waits around the corner for back up. He wasn't afraid to go hands on. He showed up. He tried. He can still help and be useful. Considering what is going on in the good Old US of A, I for one, would be happy to have him. Our last hiring for 6 police positions we had three applicants. One had a warrant. One couldn't read English. Oh well...

They look almost like they're lining up "Airport!" style to get a shot at the perp.

1. Unprepared, poorly trained cops is the new norm and it won't change until, "vicarious liability" finds its way back into our vernacular.

2. News outlets don't get paid for good news. I wouldn't count out that these were just good folks taking care of business.

The vid doesn't make the officer look good or, capable. Perhaps he's a nice guy, his record is spotless, but, let's be honest, a bit of professional development is in order. It takes a certain person with a certain gumption and confidence to rush towards the sound of gunfire or, subdue an enraged, non-compliant human; thank you for the cops who do. Hopefully, his fellow officers can give this guy a hand and get him into a routine of practicing some combatant training, as it's as much a physical job as it's an administrative one.
