I need to find a cheap wedding ring for times when I travel to third world countries for a week. Will be around a lot of saltwater. Leaning towards a ring out of Sterling Silver but see many other materials (Titanium, tungstun, stainless,). What does everyone recommend?

Why not one of the silicone ones? They are cheap and look pretty nice for $40 bucks or so.

Does the Silicon feel rubbery? Or is it very comfortable?

Conveniently today is my 17th anniversary. Have worn a titanium ring every day. Very light weight which I wanted cause I don’t like heavy gold or silver rings. I think my wife paid about 69$ Back in 2003 including engraving on the inside. If I had any concern about a job where it would get caught on something I’d get silicon.

I don’t wear any rings at all, but silicone would be my choice if I felt obligated. “Degloving” is a gruesome injury.

When I was married I wore a silicon ring for a few years and loved it. Different brands feel different so I ordered 4 or 5 different styles and brands off of amazon to try them out. I don’t think any of them cost over 15 bucks.

If it's only for work travel, why get a ring at all?

Stainless steel. I think I paid $25 for mine a decade ago.

Worked well for me, considering I wore it about 3x per year for the 10 years before I got divorced. So a little less than a dollar a wear. Big Grin

I wear silicone rings day to day. They are comfortable and inherently safe for people who work with their hands.

Amazon sells 3-4 packs for $20. Buy more than one, as they tend to disappear if you wash your hands often.

I've known several guys who had those and broke them. Most, if not all, have gone to something different now.

Tungsten carbide is very brittle. Simply dropping it on the floor can be enough to chip or crack it.

Why wear any in that situation? I haven't worn mine at all for about 40 years due to it being a safety hazard, learned that the hard way. Heck, I don't even know where it is so just remember where you stash it!

Jimmy,

I have one of the Groove silicone rings and it is very comfortable.

Unlike one of the other posters it doesn't feel like it is going to slip off when washing my hands. I actually have to work a little bit to get it off as th I side of the ring is pretty grippy.

The wife and I have matching silicone rings for active stuff, or dirty stuff (yard work and stuff like that).

You can get them in all colors and styles for a couple bucks.

I have a tungsten ring that is the actual wedding band. I like the heavy weight. 90% of the time I wear a silicone ring I got on Amazon for $8. Not wanting to damage the nice ring or deglove myself at work. I wear the metal one to nice dinners and other weddings and stuff.

I wear the silicon rings by Qalo. Fits nice and is comfortable.

I have to take it off at night to allow the finger to breath. A combo of the material and fit. Any larger and it slides off too easy.

Just celebrated 12 years. My $75 Tungsten ring from Walmart has been on there everyday with zero issue.

I'd also say go with no ring. What's the point? I'm married and never wear mine. It's just one more thing to keep track off, get in the way, worry about losing or replacing, etc. It's not like I need a reminder that I'm not single.
