Probably 10 or so years I purchased about 6 SureFire 6P flashlights. Gradually it has become apparent 3 of these lights have lost significant intensity currently putting out a small fraction of their rated 80 lumens. Frankly, the flashlights have seen very little use. For the most part as they sit around in drawers or on nightstands waiting to be used. I would be very surprised if any of them has seen much more than 50-100 hours of use, and virtually no external wear, and certainly no abuse. I'm of the understanding LED's should last much longer than this, so I decided to avail myself of SureFire's "No Hassle Warranty". I started this process about 4 months ago, and it has turned into nothing but a hassle. They have fought me at every turn initially saying they were old, and no longer had the parts. When I quoted their warranty back to them that remedies included replacement or refund they agreed to examine them, so I shipped them back. I heard nothing back for 15 weeks, so I reached out and now they are claiming normal wear and tear, refusing to honor their warranty once again. At this point it's not about 3 flashlights as much as a company reneging on it's promise and legal responsibility. I'm pretty motivated to pursue this issue through any means available, and am curious if anyone here has run into a similar issue with Surefire, or if anyone can offer suggestions as to how to proceed. I'm thinking regulatory consumer protection agencies, State Attorneys General, etc. Checking online indicates this is a rather well known issue with SureFire, so if this is old hat here, I apologize.

I'm sorry to hear this about your flashlights. Interesting first post on the forum, welcome. I'll be curious what the Attorney General has to say about it. NRA Life Member Steak: Rare. Coffee: Black. Bourbon: Neat.

Nice first post, welcome to the Sig Forum. Have you tried posting this to a Surefire forum? As a note, about 4 months ago i dropped off one of their lights which i purchased around 2010 for a trip to Baghdad. No hassles, no issues, rebuilt with new LED. Life moves pretty fast. Looking at the 6PX currently available, at $125/each, I'd be a little miffed at them not doing something about it. I had an Olight i5T die, stuck on & couldn't turn off. Emailed them, they wanted me to ship it in [on my dime] to evaluate. The i5T is discontinued, and shipping mine in was going to cost about the same as replacing it with an i3T. Their response, keep it & an i3T is in the mail, no charge. And that's on a $20 light. The Enemy's gate is down.

If they are the “classic” knurled body style I would demand them back and sell them on ebay as Malkoff hosts for a profit.

Retro rifle builds are hot right now. I have wanted a 6P for a build for a while to put a malkoff in, but I’m priced out.

Not saying the OP is a troll but, that first post is rather suspicious. … I’ll just sit over there now -> Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. It's an 80 lumen light. That's not adequate even if they do restore them to the original factory output. I'd keep them and do what Voshterkoff suggested...use them as hosts and upgrade them yourself to something that's actually useful. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

I wondered too, but he has been a member since January... As for the 6P, I changed mine long ago to LED, but have no recollection of where the bulb came from. It was a simple switch.

Guys, this is not really my first post. In fact, I have been a member for years with thousands of posts, formerly as jigray3. For some unknown reason, my account was suspended. No possible reason I can think of other than my account was hacked somehow. I attempted to reach admin multiple times with no success. After many months, I missed you guys, so I opened a new account. I may get suspended again, but I'd sure like to know why.

Dang, I'm sitting on a gold mine then! I have 2-3 of these laying around from my early LE days. I think I upgraded one with a Malkoff a decade or more back. What's so special about these 6P bodies that makes them worth $700+Malkoff cost, when you can get a lot more capable light these days for $100-$150?

My apologies then however, based on your original post and the text i bolded here, i might suggest some soul searching. Life moves pretty fast. I have an array of parts to make a Gordy clone including a $75 flashlight body from Allen Engineering. Some of the cloners are paying big bucks to get original correct parts for their re-creation of the Master Sergeant Gary Gordon clone builds from operation Gothic Serpent in 1993 Somalia. The movie Black Hawk Down came out 25 years ago and is still very popular. It's easy to make fun of the millennials, but they seem to have embraced retro carry handle builds and I respect them for it. $75 at Allen Engineering just for the knurled metal flashlight body. Have to buy the light bulb, head and switch somewhere else. This one is not exactly clone correct, it's a $3,000 package deal from BKings using a Streamlight for the flashlight. The true clone correct guys might pay $600 for a 1993 Surefire. They will pay thousands for the correct 30 year old Aimpoint optic. I sent a Surefire light back because it was getting hot and eating batteries. They said that nothing was wrong with the light but they would replace it anyway with something comparable since that light was discontinued . Fine by me .
