Most people seem to believe the President is responsible for the economy. They don't know that all spending starts in the House, nor that the President can only approve or veto the federal budget passed by Congress. They have no understanding of the federal deficit or debt, or how it impacts the economy.

The left will continue to blame Trump and his supporters for the economy. They will actively work to torpedo the economy so they can gain in the 2028 election. They will portray the economy as horrible even where it isn't. The populace has no ability to connect the cause to the effect.

It is folly to think that the Dem actions in the next 2 years will pave the way for a red wave in 2028.

The sad result of a deliberately dumbed down population.

The R’s sat on their asses and did nothing.
Even red state governors and they’re R school superintendents sat on their asses and did nothing.

Trump and his ego were tolerable for a while when results were truly palpable. His re-election was a landslide.
The R’s sat on their asses and did nothing to help -> many even deliberately undermined him.
Well, now they will soon be out of power.

The communists will be completely in charge in about 9 weeks.
Because the R’s sat on their asses and did nothing!

Do you really think that will happen? Republicans don't have a spine. Under Obama for three straight years oil was above 100 dollars a barrel. Where were the investigations? No impeachments? Affordability?
I'm not afraid, but I worry for my grandchildren and my country.

I see politics as a pendulum. The ruling party always fails to live up to its promises and potential. The electorate tires of this and votes them out. Then the next group gets put into place and it starts again.

I remember when Trump was last elected some pundits claimed the Democrats were finished. Really?

We will probably have a Democratic president in 2028 but then the mood will shift back and there will be a Republican president again.

We can always count on the federal government failing to meet the agenda it has set. Voters see what a screwed up bunch or are just impatient.

Don't bury the Republicans yet. Remember starting with Nixon the last eleven presidents went R,R,D,R,R,D,R,D,R,D,R,D, and R Trump again.

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.

We are in the same place in MN. With full control, the Democrats have pledged to pass the AWB that didn't make it last session due to a divided house. Soon, we will join the other states hanging the last hope on the SCOTUS decisions coming in June.

So you really actually believe Republicans, all because of Paxton, voted straight down the ballot, dozens of races, all Democrat? Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, commissioners, Supreme Court justices, Criminal Appeals, etc. etc.?

Only Democrats vote like this. And again, it is simple- Democrats came out of their homes to vote, many Republicans stayed home, like past non Presidential elections. But this time, Dems brought their game. Blame it on complacency, laziness, ignorance, the economy. But almost 10 million registered voters stayed home and did not vote.

And good luck with that. Two years of a lame duck Trump, and then four years with a Democratic president will result in a packed Supreme Court, limitles immigration of 3rd world zombies that will be handed free everything, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia added as states (4 more Democratic senators and countless representatives), raiding the treasury to pay for all the immigrants welfare checks, your Social Security will be given to Somalians.
Not so sure there’s going to be a pendulum swing, which I agree is “worst case” but I’m not the only one thinking that.

If that is what was at stake, then Trump has a lot to answer for. We shall see.

Kamala Harris

Why did they not become POTUS?

An average of 80,000 Californians per year have moved to TX in the last 15 years. There are not millions upon millions of them, they don't make up 20%, 25%, 50% of the population. Plus a certain percentage of them are Republicans. Muslims make up a couple of hundred thousand, Indian immigrants around 600-800,000. I agree with a Texas conservative pundit that the bigger issue with changing demographics in Texas in regards to elections are the younger people who have gone through public schools systems and universities, social media. Basically homegrown lefties.

But at the end of the day, when 10 million Texas registered voters stay home instead of choosing the better of two scenarios, the party that shows up will win. And this year, judging from the voting pattern, Democrats came out and made the difference, not independents. And certainly not Republicans.

Yet 391,000 moved here last year. Over half a million in 2024. 2.1 million people since the start of this decade, IE 2020. Cali dominates the talk, and rightly so, but that’s not the only liberal enclave they have flooded in from. 2010 Texas population = 25 million. 2026 Texas population = 31.7 million. That’s over a 25% increase in total population since 2010. So yes, this had a major effect on Texas turning Blue. I’ve been here since birth, well over 50 years, and I have never seen anything like this. When people move here, they also move their children with them, that have been indoctrinated in other states. At least IMO, all these people migrating here has had just as much, or more, of an effect, than anything else. People have been flooding into Austin first, Dallas and Houston next, and San Antonio. All major TX cities. And they have certainly not been Republicans. The Gen Z voter lives and breathes social media and the algorithms those companies present, which is mostly massive progressive ideology. 94% of Gen Z is on social media, and average 8 hours a day on it. I see them at the gym every night, not lifting or exercising. Camped on machines, benches, what have you, eyes down, completely addicted to their phone. They aren’t doing homework or anything productive. They are on social media. That’s where they get their news from, their everything from. It’s not that difficult to figure out why this happened.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Ken Paxton most definitely was not a great candidate. That said, I strongly believe John Cornyn would not have won either or had any positive impact for the rest of the statewide races. The percentage difference (10%, plus or minus) in all races up and down the page is too consistent to hang the statewide results on Paxton.

The Democrats simply made the effort to out-vote the participating Republicans, and there's enough of them now in Texas to come up with the results they got last night.

What everyone sees is that gas is expensive. Diesel is REALLY expensive. And, the costs of groceries and everything else delivered by a tractor trailer has gone up.

Yes the economy is moving, BUT everything is EXPENSIVE to everyone where it counts, the every day stuff.....gas, groceries, etc.

The President absolutely did this by starting the war with Iran before the mid terms. Trump should've waited until after the mid terms to bomb Iran. But his Ego wouldn't let him wait.

As I have repeated stated, almost 10 million registered voters did not vote in this election, a travesty. Republicans sat on their asses. But then past midterm and special elections have been horrible for voter turnout, even though this one was the most important one for the state of Texas.

There was a special election for a state senate seat in my district late last year and a runoff last January. A seat held by a Republican since its inception, 1992. And the seat flipped, a Democrat was elected, not because of Californians or Indians or social media youths, but because of a voter turnout of less than 16%, and yes, my wife and I voted. Shameful, horrible behavior by Republican voters while Democrats made the effort in cold weather.

The same way a ship captain is responsible for everything that happens on it (and is expected to go down with it if it sinks), a military unit commander, even in your own workplace if you're the owner or a team leader, so goes the President. They don't get to blame anyone else, even if the someone elses are responsible. Rightly or wrongly, fairly or unfairly, that's simply how it goes.

A large part of what makes an economy work is people's confidence in it. If they lose that, it won't. And nobody is liking it right now. (Which still doesn't explain why they would vote for people guaranteed to foul it up, but still.)
