I have. But I live in CA so I’m used to it. I also have great faith in the Lord, which trumps everything. Everything will be fine. Yes a few bumps in the road, but have faith.

I think this episode is rather fair assessment of this election cycle:

What Just Happened to Politics in the South?
quote:
America has a new political reality: Republicans’ decades-long grip on Southern politics has cracked. Democrats won major races this week, from Texas to South Carolina. WSJ’s Cameron McWhirter explains how the Republicans lost, how the democrats are expected to govern and whether or not the South’s purple status is here to stay. Kate Linebaugh hosts.

quote:
....
Cameron McWhirter: I would say Donald Trump's policies regarding tariffs, which really hit the agricultural community, which is a huge part of the south and a huge part of the Republican base. The Savannah port is one of the busiest ports on the East Coast, shipping all kinds of agricultural products all over the world and bringing in all kinds of products, and that caused great chaos. And then, of course, the war in Iran drove up gas prices. And if you are in the rural south, you drive a truck and you got to fill that truck up.

Kate Linebaugh: You got to go far.

Cameron McWhirter: Yeah, it's a pretty good haul to go to the grocery store. And that is Republican America and it got punched in the face. And I've been up in the Blue Ridge Mountains talking to people and they were not happy about what was happening. They weren't happy about the war in general, but they really weren't happy about their pocketbook. Your truckers, there's a lot of truckers in the south, and they're using diesel, so they're destroyed.
....
Kate Linebaugh: Something else became a political liability for Republicans, and that's AI data centers. Many southern states welcomed them, promising jobs and economic benefits.

Cameron McWhirter: Data centers were part of this economic model that a lot of Republican state economic development people and governors would brag about like, "Hey, we're getting all these data centers down here and this farmland is now going to be... There'll be a big investment here." And they thought that was just going to be fantastic, and Georgia certainly embraced it. And lo and behold, people in those rural areas, many of whom were hardcore Republicans and hardcore MAGA, suddenly said, "Whoa, wait a minute. We don't want these."

Kate Linebaugh: Was it strong Democratic candidates that did this or weak Republican ones or a mix of both?

Cameron McWhirter: I think a little bit of both. And I also think that the atmosphere, the mood of the country was punish the people in power. And in the south, the Republicans have run everything.

Yes, obviously.

Simply pointing out what bdylan spelled out. The second the Dems regain power they fall right into their old ways and abandon all their phony promises. They won't be able to help themselves.

They don't have any desire to lower gas prices...
Impeach the President!

"Universal" health care!
is what they want.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Just search Schumer and DSA on X and you'll get a ton of posts about getting rid of Jefferies and Schumer, to replace them with DSA members.

Maybe they'll get distracted with that process.

Wow! 20 million more votes for Democrats? Uh, something smells fishy about that number.

To be fair, Kamala was a shit candidate and thrust upon them after being lied to for a year that Biden was fine.

Human nature is to only remember memorable people (e.g. the foaming at the mouth brainwashed lemmings of the Democrat party), but they do have 10+ million more moderate democrat voters who will sit home on election day if felt shit upon.

Not saying it was right or wrong. People voted with their pocket books in mind. High gas and particularly diesel prices. Diesel caused large grocery price increases. I know that these high prices have not helped me at all. YMMV.

Every time I hear about people voting for democrats because of high prices I think of the old story where a man says, My house has mice in it, I can’t tolerate them. So he thinks, hmm.. if I let a few venomous snakes loose in the house, I’ll be rid of those rats in no time!

Those numbers are statistically IMPOSSIBLE.
20% more overall votes compared to 4 years earlier
2% more votes for Republican
47% MORE votes for Democrats over 4 years earlier, totally impossible statistics, you'd have more of a chance of winning the lottery. That's massive voter fraud.

Have we regained our perspective, gents, after the initial shock?

"George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley predicted on Wednesday that “buyer’s remorse” was inevitable after Tuesday’s midterm sweep for Democrats.

Turley told Fox News host Sean Hannity that members of the far-left wing of the Democrat Party had been given outsized influence over the rest of the party and in Congress, saying that he believed they would take the power afforded them and use it to overstep.

“I think that people are gonna realize they didn’t offer any actual, constructive ideas about how to improve the economy,” Turley began. “The economy is actually doing very well. Gasoline prices have really proven to be horrendous for this election, but the Democrats don’t have much to offer here.”

“The DSA is driving this train so far, and what Schumer and Jeffries are going to find out is that that wing is going to have oversized power in the coming Congress,” Turley continued. “And so I think this is going to be a bit of a train wreck...”

I agree, but I don't know how you prove it.

People forget 3 weeks ago Brazil's vote tabulation machines added 8 million votes for the Communists controlling the vote tabulation machines in 2 hours...
BUT Americans trust the vote tabulation machines in America that are running the SAME software?

The above stats makes me wonder how many migrants from other states like Cali changed the outcome.

On the plus side at least the were more republican voters albeit not that much.

Balze's graph is comparing to the 2022 midterms, not the 2024 presidential election.
