I prefer the Gesture.

I've been looking at the Gesture for a long time. Glad to hear you like it.

Comfortable. Robust build. I especially like the adjustability of the arms.

Got a new one from Amazon for about a grand delivered free.

Now my 10 year old son gets to use the Aeron. Luxury home-school seating!

I looked at that Madison site and found options not available on the Herman Miller site and at a much lower cost than the Herman Miller site. Several hundred dollars cheaper so I emailed Herman Miller and asked them about the Madison Seating site and was told that they are not an authorized dealer so I backed off on getting a Herman Miller chair. What have been the experiences from those that have ordered Herman Miller Aeron chairs from Madison Seating?

A year or more back, I picked up a like-new Aeron from Craig's List, it had papers and tags. The guy had bought for his "fiancee", she dumped him. I got a very good deal.

I wasn't going to pay retail, Madison Seating was tempting. I looked into them and was scared off. I don't remember the specifics but yeah, I'd stay away from Madison.

The CL deal was hair-raising, more than a few iffy sellers here in St.Louis. That said, it's a quality chair, parts and service are available and a good used chair might be something to consider. More than a few YouTubes on Aeron maintenance. A lot of businesses use them and replace for one reason or another.

I had to wonder why/how Madison Seating could sell a new Herman Miller Aeron for $400 when Herman Miller sells the same chair for $900+. I figured something must be wrong about that Madison Seating site. Thanks for the info. I’ll still pass.

It's probably a Chinese knockoff, for that price.

I've seen very convincing knockoffs of many swanky furnishings.

It’s possible they’re liquidating business assets and getting the chairs in bulk for little or nothing. They certainly aren’t selling new for that price. My employer gets new HM chairs for far less than list using trade discounts and working with our product reps. But as always walk away from fishy deals.

I have a 12 year old HM Aeron, and it's going strong. Well worth the money, IMO. Smile

How could the Chinese sell a fake product in this country with the exact same name brand and get away with it?

Probably because they're not selling new Herman Miller Aeron chairs. Wink

Open-box/used/refurbs aren't for everyone, but I can personally attest that the darn things are built to last.
