I don't like curry dishes either, but that's a different flavor than most of the ones I'm talking about. With curry dishes it seems like maybe too much turmeric for me. My Indian friends will argue that "curry" mean sauce and a dish called curry is British, not Indian.

Anyhow, it's more the masala taste I don't like. It seems like they put it on everything and it all taste the same, be it broccoli, cauliflower, or chicken.

I like it too much. By the time I get everything I want, I’ve generally over-ordered and end up full as a tick.

As Brad said, I have posted on some threads previously, that dealt with Indian food. I am an immigrant from India. I also posted a few recipies that you could cook at home yourself.
For those who like Indian food, I would recommend this one cookbook, and Brad also have recommended it. It is by a friend of mine, named, Raghavan Iyer, and it is titled, "660 Curries". A lot of us Indians in the US consider it the best Indian cookbook in the market

I am from the North-East of India, from the State of Assam, where Ghost Peppers grow wild all over the place. So, I do like, some hot curries, and I also like South Indian cusine.

That may depend upon the curry?

I used to be the same way: Not just un-fond of it, but, literally, did not care for it. Then I tasted my wife's Indian cooking. Now I like it.

There is a particular curry powder she prefers. When she couldn't get it, anymore, she took to making her own. Close, but not quite as good. She kept refining it until she nailed it.

I was the same way, until I figured out, one day, a little soy sauce goes a long way. I backed-off on it and came to like it.

That’s as Indian as Chop Suey is Chinese and corned beef is Irish…

I enjoy it as well. Shared an office for a number of years with a good friend from India. Always enjoyed going to Indian restaurants and getting tips on what I should order.

The curries are good. I really like the taste but can only handle it once a week. It's very rich for me.

But, I can eat other things as much as I can get it. For example, I love dosas. And I love all the other bread like things. Like the crispy lentil wafer like thing that bubbles as it's baked. Or the white puffy disk like things that you eat with sambar or chutney. And the roti which is similar to the chinese tswa bing or "grab bun" (not sure which came first).

I love all the bread / wafer like things (just don't know the names). I prefer that over the rice other than biryani - I love biryani. And while I don't buy cauliflower, I love the gobi manchurian.

What I don't like, or more hesitant to eat, is the paneer. I'm very cautious with cheeses (Indian and Mexican); I don't know why.

I only ate it once and the guy I was with ordered for me as I didn't know what a lot of it was, but I liked it.

Some of it was pretty hot.

I've had a bit of it and enjoyed it, but I'm so ignorant. I'd like to go with someone who knows what they're ordering to give advice.

I need a starter kit. Big Grin

I've tried. I even had a friend from India take me to what he considered to be the best Indian restaurant in the Salt Lake/Provo area. Cury and the like is just not for me - this coming from a guy who loves Kimchi.

I loooove Indian food. There was a Sikh food cart next to a place I used to work that convinced me that vegetarian dishes had a chance of being good. Big Grin

Thanks, man! I'm always looking out for good Indian recipes.

I always said that if I had to stick to a vegetarian diet, it would consist mostly of Indian dishes.

Indian food is mighty tasty, not a secret why the Brits made Tikka Masala a national favorite. I stay away from the buffets but, I'm down for some Northern Indian dishes....Southern Indian I'm learning what to like, a bit spicy Eek

The Paneer is my favorite! My wife got the Chicken Tikka Masala (mild) and I got the Shahi Paneer (spicy) which was a creamy cashew sauce and nice and mouth tingling hot.

I think garlic Naan is my new favorite thing. It's like the best garlic bread you ever ate.
