I too love Thanksgiving! It’s always a festive time around our home. This year our older son and his wife decided they want to host the meal which is fantastic since they only live about 100 yards away and I can probably waddle back home if I feel sleepy! Haha. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

My MIL makes a stuffing with sausage and apples that is just to die for and she always insists on it being made in a turkey and not a separate dish, it's just not the same without the bird's juices and flavors melding with it. I told her I could just eat a big bowl of that and be happy, forget the turkey and all the rest. My wife's family all hate sweet potatoes/yams so they never feature on the menu, instead we have rutabaga and also creamed pearl onions are always served.

We're doing Comfort Food to indulge all the fussy eaters. Watching the Vikings as well on the 30th because of all the conflicts with the real Thanksgiving. Tired for momma slaving away all day and so many fussy eaters only eating the rolls and honey. I can have my Turkey on another day. We just want to see everyone.

Both of our kids and families will be flying in late this week. Our house goes from 2 to 11 hungry mouths. Luckily we have 4 bedrooms. The craziest week of the year. Would love that Jalapeno cranberry recipe, wife makes fresh cranberrys for the holiday, and plenty here love Jalapeno's sounds interesting
Pooblix $.49 a pound right now frozen..... Cleaned up the smoker/Traeger, it was giving me fits but ran it for 4 hours and it held temp and ran perfect, it's 14 years old or so, original Big Tex Model 34. Will replace the controller with a Savannah Smoker PID controller after the holidays. Think I'll pick up a couple of breasts to smoke after the crowd leaves, need a ham though, off to the store this afternoon for the breasts and ham...

Thanksgiving (plus Christmas and New Year)are the days I really exercise the old smoker. I live alone, so I will smoke meats/poultry on the holidays and then vacuum seal smaller portions of each to place in the freezer. That gives me something to do, and smoked meats for '26. I plan 4 racks of baby back ribs with hickory for Thanksgiving. They turn out soooo good!!

That sounds intriguing...I may have to try that. If you like religion, laws or sausage, then you shouldn't watch them being made.

We’ll head down the Front Range to our daughter and her family’s house. Our son will come up from a south Denver suburb with his family. Our kids and four granddaughters, so that will be nice. I love smoked meats, but neither my wife or I really like smoked turkey, especially dry smoked turkey, which my son-in-law always seems to serve. Just wish our kids, and grandkids would come up to our place for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. _______________________________________________________ despite them

I love turkey! But this year we are going out, she gets a break from all the work of the traditional meal. I too am sad there won't be any leftovers. May all your meals be wonderful and blessed with lots of fun and laughter. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

Ham this year. Do it on the smoker. Mom makes a Jello cranberry dish that is really good. As simple and silly as it is a green bean casserole is always a hit. Mashed taters and gravy and stuffing is great. My wife makes an oyster stuffing that is really, really good. Probably not this year. Btw, bought some of the cooked costco ribs the other day. They were not good. fwiw. "Practice like you want to play in the game"

We went there for Thanksgiving, couple times in the past. Can't do that anymore; the site of the local Golden Corral is now a Costco gas station. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Just me this year, not even my dog to share with any more. I picked up a tiny ham about the size of a grapefruit ($24 for a freaking micro-ham?

No fancy Thanksgiving for me this year. Usually we have Mr. and Mrs. V-Tail over for a nice meal, but this year, like last, we can't do it as the kitchen still hasn't been completed in the renovation. 3 month project that is now in month 9, and which I do not believe will be done for Christmas, in month 10. If I am lucky, I will cook Easter in a new kitchen. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . .
