I’m probably the only one here who has actually driven the Supra. It’s a fucking hoot. I’ve driven both the Supra and the new Z4 and the Supra seems way quicker...and that was the 2020 version which was down almost 50HP to the 2021. I thought Toyota designed the body for the Supra and the chassis, powertrain, and interior was all BMW. If that’s the case the fault lays with Toyota. But to be honest almost every car these days has buffeting issues.

Another "buffeting is common nowadays" entry. Every car I've had for many years suffers from it in one form or another. Mu first experience was back in the 90's with the second gen Chevy Blazer. Family worked for GM and while driving one of the capture test fleet Blazers we rolled down the windows. It pounded our ears, rattled the mirrors, and seemed like it bounced the front wheels off the ground. It was insane.

I wasn't impressed with the photos of the new Supra I saw online but the car does look better in person from my perspective. Friend of mine that works for Toyota said sticker price on the one in there showroom was 63k. For that kind of money I'd opt for a entry level Corvette C8, better looking car with tons of performance.

I’m a Toyota fan, but the Supra is fugly. A sports car should be good looking and not look like it was designed by a crackhead.

I too am a huge Toyota fan but was hugely disappointed with the new Supra.

My main gripe is why would a company with all of the resources that Toyota has need to outsource any part of this vehicle?

The car should have had its own Toyota power train (even if it was a reconfigured engine from another vehicle) and its own unique look.

I love German cars but would never buy one due to their limited reliability, why on earth would I buy a Toyota that looks like a BMW and could potentially have all of the reliability issues as well.

I agree with others on the buffeting, my Tundra, Rav4 and Jeep Grand Cherokee all have it.

What potential Cayman buyer is going to shop this Toyota BMW? No manual transmission, hideous design, way overpriced. Would never compete with a Cayman on its best day.

Not to mention, the 90s Supra was more Corvette than Cayman. It just makes no sense at all to resurrect the Supra name and slap it on a BMW to target a Porsche. Proof that even a company like Toyota has its fair share of clueless idiots making important decisions.

Big Grin Well said.

After years of waiting...BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT as Toyota releases its new “Supra”

At best it's a mediocre example of a sports car. Yes I have seen one in person. Yes I have driven one for brief few miles. Yes I still hate it and think it's an overpriced, fugly, disaster.

Of course they are sold out.

Based on my experience I’d expect those to help a lot.

I test drove the new Z4 and didn't experience it. But the Z4 is a convertible and the Supra a coupe. I think BMW designed the Z4 as a convertible and Toyota mocked up the exterior.

I've had buffetting issues in all my four doors but never my two doors.

I might have to go try out the Supra. But for the money, I'd probably stick with BMW.

Not minority enough!

I drove one earlier this year, the buffeting didn’t seem any worse than any other Toyota I’ve owned. Our 2013 Seqouia has terrible buffeting issues, and my 2004 Corolla was bad too. I will say the Toyotas we do and have owned seem worse on this than the Fords or Audis.

In terms of the Supra overall I give it a big meh. I’m not a fan of the stiff sport/track inspired coupes in general though. It was peppy, but a lot slower than I expected. It really just wasn’t fun to drive.

I wonder who they thought the target audience would be for the new Supra. Put me in the demographic that would have loved to have owned an '85 Supra but could only afford the '85 Celica ST. 35 years later I can afford a Supra and would have been happy to drop some coin on something that resembles the car I always wanted. I am left to lament that Toyota squandered the opportunity to bring back formerly loyal customers. I'd rather repurchase either of my '74 or '85 Celica STs I had than this POS.
