| The part that got me was, "I could [not] care less about what you do. Your forum is insignificant to me," and yet, "I re-registered on to SF, because I had good luck selling on here before." Way to make a good impression. |

Objectively Reasonable

In a bunch of ways, SIGforum is like a number of physical places I spend time at; the clubhouse at the range, work, a friend's house... just minus the physical presence. Para, there's one of you at each of those places. It's familiar. It's one of the the things that makes THIS place cool, too. Something goes sideways here, it's addressed, and life goes on. W/r/t the Classifieds, I've both sent and received things on the strength of an email saying "Check's in the mail." Going back to the above, it's the same "feel" as buying/selling/trading with somebody at the club. Conditioning it on participation in actual discussions makes that possible. Although I'm betting that only a small percentage of members are ever likely to meet up in real life, you don't feel like you're dealing with strangers. |
