I'n not judging either way (whether it is inflammatory or not), but the statement about the newborn dying in the jail is factual. He's not making stuff up to make the guy look bad. It actually happened. http://fox6now.com/2016/12/27/...-deaths-in-6-months/

Sherriff Clarke has been a breath of fresh air in a putrid City. I've seen political propaganda before. I try to see it for what it is, rather than trashing good people.

I've been a fan of his for a long time now. Hopefully he will reconsider a position in the Trump administration. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

PD, it's not. As someone who has had occasion to manage jails and prisons for 35 years, this case is an example of deliberate indifference. Deaths in Milwaukee County Jail

Sounds like you have it all figured out. In those 35 years, were there ever any allegations against the facilities in which you were involved?

Yes Warren, there were. But none that rose to the level of a 1983 action for deprivation of civil rights. I was fortunate that none of those suits against my institutions (and me) were settled or sustained at trial. But, Anchor Health and Sheriff Clarke, and his chain of command really better be taking these matters seriously.

Dresden, how many of those accusations were false? I say this because I've been on the receiving end of false accusations and nothing infuriates me more. One was nearly career ending until I happened across some phone recordings that exonerated me. I've been sued under 1983. Only problem is: Not only was I not at the scene, my name was never even mentioned in the report. The attorney mistook me for an officer with a similar sounding name and filed the suit. The city settled before I ever got the chance to embarrass that moron. I've done dozens of internal investigations and I'm amazed at how willing normal people are to lie, let alone criminals. My point is: let's not assume anything. Being in corrections, you know what kind of unhealthy lifestyles most of those folks have chosen. They die at home, on the street or sometimes in lockup.

It's incredible to me that some here are willing to throw this man under the bus, based on what looks like an agenda driven piece. Do you know his side of the story? Are you privy to detailed info of what happened? If you have any concrete evidence of his wrong doing, then show it. Q

Good for Sheriff Clarke. He had a crappy job in a crappy county. He can make more money and annoy more safety pin wearing liberals being retired. The only people that seem to be upset with his retirement are those who are “progressively challenged” that don’t like conservative black LEOs.

Sheriff Clarke always made sense to me, I like him. Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

Thank you Very little |
Perhaps targeted in light of his public positions explains this vs actual issues, being sued and being guilty/responsible for the actions are not the same thing. Anyone can be sued for anything, by anyone at anytime....

Sorry, Para, I tend to side with Dresden. As much I he hit all the right notes with his on-air comments, he struck me as a bit of a grandstander. It just seemed he spent more time in front of the camera (always in his natty uniform) than he did doing his job. Great sound bites do not a great lawman make. You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless. NRA Benefactor/Patriot Member

I can't speak to the legitimacy of the criticisms of Clarke. That's why I posted my earlier comment as a question, rather than a statement. But just because somebody is "one of us" doesn't automatically make him or her right. I, too, have appreciated Sheriff Clarke's stated positions on the law and social issues. But if he was neglecting one of his primary responsibilities as a County Sheriff it does not speak well of him, regardless. Wrong is wrong. And, yes: Even criminals have certain basic rights. That is the nature of our law. It's part of what separates us from the barbarians in certain other regions of the world. "America is at that awkward stage.
