My current Norelco 3 head electric shaver is on its last legs. It has served me well for over 10 years. I have tried the foil shavers in the past and am not a fan. I'm looking for a new 3 head electric shaver and see many different models. I don't need the wet shave function or any of the other odd gimmicks that many manufacturers attach to their models nowadays. Just a shaver I can use every day, or maybe every other day. What does the forum recommend for a basic 3 head electric shaver, that might make it another 10 years, and doesn't cost over a $100? Thanks in advance. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. TBH I would spend the extra money and get a Philips Norelco 9000. A stripped down version without the fancy cleaner and other attachments gives you the same shaver. Very happy with mine after going through a half dozen under $60 models that never lasted.

Last year I purchased a Norelco 7200 which is $99.96 at Amazon. It is OK but not as good as my old Norelco1290X which lasted for years. __________________________________________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit! Sigs Owned - A Bunch

Used a triple header Norelco for 45 years then got a Panasonic Arc 5. Norelco has better control and pop up trimmer but doesn’t get quite as close of a shave. I still use the pop trimmer on the Norelco.

I use a Panasonic. You can buy various levels of performance to reach your cost target. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

At under $100 I would get whatever Norelco I could get for under $100. _______________________________ Do the interns get Glocks?

I’ve always had good luck with Braun but I always go back to a traditional Gillette Mach 3 razor blade ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

Thanks guys! Looks like the Panasonics are out, no 3 heads, all foil type (which I have tried, and found I didn't like). Brauns all appear to be foil also. Seems I am stuck with the Norelcos. Looking around Amazon, I see many different models, ranging in price from $30-$130. I need to start researching what the differences are between models. BTW, my old electric razor is a Norelco series 3000. Perhaps I'll stick with the same type model since it has lasted quite awhile, who knows? Thanks again for all the input. You probably need new batteries as they get old and won't hold a charge. You didn't say what model so here is some videos on: https://www.youtube.com/result...+battery+replacement 41

Thanks 41. It is the series 3000. Battery seems to take a charge fine. Over the years, I have used a blade lubricant. The blades just seem dull anymore. It takes multiple passes to cut whiskers, and leaves my face red and sore. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Depending on the age, you may need battery replacement as well. I have a Remington R845 and the batteries charge up but lack power. Notice they say the blades should be replaced every year. 41

Oh, it's just that the blades are dull. Yes, easily replaced. In fact, most manufacturers recommend changing them every year to year-and-a half.

I have way too much American Indian blood in me. I'm 52, and still can't grow a full beard. Probably why I got 10 years out of the blades. Now that I know they can be easily swapped, I will keep an extra set on hand, and change them sooner. I'll also keep in mind the battery, and that it can be swapped too, when the time comes. Thanks again, guys. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Been using the new blades ordered off Amazon for about a week now. What a difference! Thanks again 41, and thanks everyone for your suggestions. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Nice. I'm a DE shaver but it's good to see you can change your blades too. ![]() Now, if you were a DE shaver, this is where you would order extras for the future well beyond what you would need. ![]() You did get at least one extra set, right? ![]()
